What's up with the Fuji haters?
I have been noticing a lot that people saying bad stuff about Fuji bikes for example they are not very high quality or not on par with other bikes. I personally ride and love a Fuji and could not tell a huge difference between my roubaix and a caad 12 to pay the extra 150 dollars more. Is it the name?

I read in another thread a guy say he will never buy a Fuji again and earlier this week a guy at the bike shop talking trash about them not being on par with other brands.

Fuji is relatively big brand, no doubt in part because they are sold by Performance. Those things alone are going to guarantee that someone is going to hate them.

I actually enjoyed my experience with performance, the people were nice to talk to about bikes and were very helpful.

When Fuji was a Japanese company, their bikes were top-notch. You could say they were the Honda of bicycles. They were high quality and durable bikes; and much better than Peugeot, Gitane, Motobecane etc. of the day, no doubt in part because of solid Sun Tour gears vs. the flimsy Simplex.
Fuji America, they are still good bikes, but like everyone else's bikes, they come out of China. Just because of that they're not quite as special as before. In my opinion, of course.

See, many people don't realize that Fuji is not a name, but an acronym: F.U.G.I. This is clearly a reference to your Gastro Intestinal tract. Back when brands were getting claimed, the dentists snapped up Cervelo, lawyers seized Colnago, poor lawyers got Bianchi. The dermatologists jumped in, but they were always a rash late. They thought they would get Trek, but oncologists got it for Lance's nut.
All that was left was Specialized. So the dermatologists decided to wage war with the proctologists, with the victor claiming the final available brand. And of course the ass men won. You can see it in all the new frames, looking like dogs pinching a loaf.
The dermatologists were left with no skin in the game. So they had to develop their own brand. F.U. G. I. In one final move of genius, they trademarked the name Roubaix before the hacks at the S hole could.
So now you know. Your welcome.

If someone doesn't like your bike does that make it less fun to ride?
Why do you ride your bike? So other people like the bike name you're riding?

Fuji used to manufacture the Sears and Montgomery Ward house brand bikes, lower end, mass production, etc. Fuji developed somewhat of a bad reputation over that, mostly undeserved. Their own higher end bikes were much better.
45 years later some of the "Sears bike" perception is still around, even though they make $12k bike ridden in the Tour de France.

-They're in the business of technology copying. (So is everyone else but really a transsonic looks a generation behind the aero bandwagon)
-They're hard to sell against because at the low to midrange they put great part specs for a given price point on so-so frames and I spend a lot of time explaining why ultegra costs more from me when the upgrade, the frame, isn't as quantifiable as a groupset (industry reason to not like them much)
-their QC isn't great. At a race this weekend one split cleanly along all the carbon bonds in a crash. It didn't crack, it de-bonded at each joint, and I saw a bike that came from the factory with a bent fork and a front wheel re-dished so it fit.
All that said their best bikes are still nice, but the lower prices I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole.

Back in the mid to late 80's and early 90's Fuji had a tendency to have lower specs for the same price as other brands who used higher specs. The frames were considered good quality but most companies were putting out good quality frames at the time, its just the overall value for cost was not there for Fuji. Not sure if they still suffer from that image/issue today.
