new handlebars
I haven't been able to ride my road bike because the handlebars are way to narrow for me and I need a new set. No problem except when I got fit for a set I was fit at 48mm. The largest I can find is 46, the bike shop couldn't even order 48. does anyone know where I may be able to order one that big?

Just google "48cm handlebars". A bunch of options come up. Looks like the classic Nitto Noodle is the most widely available. Great handlebar.

do you know how the fitter was defining measurement for bar width? Some bar manufacturers measure from the outside of the bars and others measure from the centerline of where the brakes attach. Bontrager measures this way, my 46's would measure at least 48 using the outside measurement. So check with your fitter to see how they are measuring. If it is Using outside measurement these would be fine. I'm a big rider and I'm riding these in 46. Good luck!

A quick search, and this place showed up.
Zinn Cycles:: 46cm handlebar:: 48cm handlebar :: 47cm handlebar
Are there custom options? Bike Friday uses a split bar with internal support + custom wide stem. So, if they took two traditional bars, and cut them both wide, they might be able to make a wide composite.
