Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Last 2 days have been a total washout, and chilly for this time of year. Really disappointing, probably going to cancel the firework show tonight too.

Besides Pepe. He's the easy choice.
Let's not forget the father of this thread, his holiness and dispenser of all things good.
Temporarily absent perhaps but certainly not forgotten.
I feel him lurking in the shadows.

He's usually very good-looking but I don't think this particular drag outfit suits him and his make-up is not as expertly done as it could be. Still, he somehow manages to be funny as hell and ran a marathon a day for, I believe, thirty days plus rocks a raspberry beret like nobody's business so I'm willing to overlook his early errors.

Vancouver is banning the sale and use of personal fireworks within the city as of 2017. Sadly, this is going to decrease the amount these stands can donate to the public fireworks show held at the Fort and it was already on shaky ground financially. I guess they held hearings and all the organizations including swim teams, the Elks, church youth groups, and commercial stands said to keep things the way they were, so they're being banned. Shooting off fireworks within the city limits is currently illegal except between 9am and midnight today. Of course, they've been for sale outside the city limits since last Tuesday and, consequently, people have been shooting them off all week. I don't know why they decided to ban all of them next year instead of just the extremely large loud ones that shake your apartment building like a truck drove into an outside wall.

Ironically, the phone number that was set up to allow people to report illegal firework use has been down much of the day. When people did get through they heard a message saying, essentially, go ahead and leave your information but there's no guarantee anything will result from your call. One woman commented on Facebook "It would happen on a holiday".
