Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yeah, these definitely have the higher neck, I just unzip it down, but understand what you're after now.

Really that just feels like a snub. Those two teams don't even deserve to be in the same breath as our teams. As much crap as I give your boys, it's mostly because they're clearly the other heavy hitters in the division. Washington and Philly? What have they done recently? Philly has never won a Super Bowl and Washington has been irrelevant the entire time I've paid attention. They're not even worth the hate.

No snub, I really really hate y'all too. It's hard to hate Eli, he's so nice. But I manage.

I have a few jerseys like that and I unzip down too, it really is not a big deal. I just prefer to buy the other type from now on.

Yeah... how'd that work out for them?

Maybe Kirk Cousins will make me eat my words in six month, but I think he's fool's gold, and the team as a whole wasn't very convincing.

And call me a Giants fan, but I dun' care about winning the division; I care about big post-season runs. Get back to me when they do that.

As you all know, I ride a trike from time to time for fun and have for any years. Its a nice diversion from chasing rear ends in a pace line which I get way too much of. I've found the trike community to be some of the nicest people around but I'm re-thinking it after posting the following pic to the Catrike group on Facebook.

The pic was in jest with the heading, "Should I or shouldn't I?" Most people realized that it was just a quick pic from my iPhone and that I wasn't serious but there were other comments that I was going to be arrested or hunted down by the RR for trespassing and finally one from an amateur photog that my pic was hackneyed. Here's the pic with an explanation below:

Untitled by trsnrtr, on Flickr

I originally stopped to take a pic of the overpass RR in the distance but it was too far away for my phone camera so I took a typical trike "foot" shot and cropped out as much of the road as I could to make it appear that I was on the tracks which I wasn't. The actual location is below:

I dunno - I don't think that you can dismiss them quite so easily when they won your team's division (and it's not like the NFC East is sending multiple teams to the playoffs any time soon). But I will agree that Washington isn't very convincing... but someone has to win the division.

NFC East and NFC North are playing this year, right? I don't feel like looking up the sched, but I think that's right. Man, I hope the Vike's D just tees up some teams this year - they're looking like they could be beastly this year (and the next and the next, frankly).

You and your little lady should get out to Oregon for some legal rail riding. $45 per person for a half metric century seems kinda steep, hope they have good snack stations!

No Main Street but the main drag has an interesting name also. Don't see too many street names with "and" in 'em.

Speaking of jerseys, I don't ride enough to need/justify one but there are some very cool ones on this site with bibs to match or coordinate.

Very sad that this one is only avail in XS at this point. Love it. My coach has said something like this to me- people who train hard/smart/consistently frequently appear lucky to people who don't. I don't remember why, I was probably attributing some surprising result to a bit of good luck.

Eh, I absolutely can - I take a longer-term view of these things. WAS always manages to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, and Snyder is almost as good as JJ at meddling until a good thing is wrecked. It's similar to the Falcons, where they've demonstrated time and again that the crumple under pressure and until they overcome that, I'll write them off, even though they often win the NFCS.

Yeah, NYG-MIN is Oct3. I have no idea how that'll go, but do not worry, I won't be ducking this place if we lose.

Time to get ready to ride. They are calling for thunderstorms to hit around noon so I am hoping we can beat the storm home. Last month we tried that and mis-timed the storm...we got hit with hail. Cycling in hail is fail.

Why do you need a helmet if you are on the rails? It's not like you are going to fall off or crash.

Openers for me this AM on the TT bike. Racing a 20k tomorrow. Supposedly with a Fredly friend who wanted to race but now he's backed out. No explanation other than he "might" show up.

Then down to Carson for a follow up TT fit. Agenda items: did we get things right with the new spacers? What can we do about my atrocious head position? And how should I have my skinsuit altered to get rid of the forearm wrinkles which are the worst thing in the worst place aerodynamically.

After the TT fit comes the pre-purchase fit. Yep. Another bike most likely. Mountain bike.

That will be 3.5 hours of time total scheduled with fitter. Fun.

And also I forgot to mention. Monday's epic ride up Mt Baldy was the 12000 mi ride for the Magic Bike. That bike was a game changer for me. Picked it up Feb 22, 2014. My first "real" bike. I love it still.

Ummmm . . . do they really need helmets when the whole contraption is fixed on rails? With seat belts, no less?

Maybe dive-bombing dragonflies.
