Stop my shoe from squeaking!
 

My left shoe squeaks. Has that ever happened to any of you? How did you stop it?
I know it’s not the cleat or the pedal, because they were both recently replaced (well after the squeaking).

I was thinking of applying some vaseline to the wire and maybe also to some spots where the tongue contacts the upper, but it all sounds kind of messy.

What do you think?

vaseline sounds good.

Wax. It'll last longer. My shoe squeaks too so after I clean it really good the next time I'm going to apply a layer of wax.

Lip balm is a good all-purpose lubricant.

My Giros started squeaking regularly recently. At first I was convinced it was the look cleat/pedal interface as that had given me trouble before, but I finally isolated it to the metal buckle holding the first toe strap. I've basically soaked the entire shoe in silicone spray at this point and that stops the noise, it just returns after the lube dries or I ride in the rain and it gets washed off.

Can you isolate the sound ?? Maybe the cleat nuts are rubbing inside the sole ? Are they tight enough ?
Do they squeak off the bike ?

I had this and it was the cleat shims. I ultimately got new cleats/pedals and never replaced them.

And apparently never needed them.

My orthotics squeak in new running shoes, I apply the tiniest amount of Vaseline around the edge and squeak never comes back.

My Bont Vaypors started squeaking where the shoe uppers overlap the tongue after I was caught out in a rain storm. What solved the problem was to spray dry lube on a rag and rub it all over the offending areas. Other than that I rub candle wax on the cleats and pedal platforms.

I can't isolate it and I don't think it's the cleat nuts, since it was squeaking with my prior cleats.
I'll probably end up taking a q-tip swab and apply vaseline or some silicone drip on it and then rub it on every possible contact point and see if that calms things down.

My Sidi shoes squeak as well.

You can also spray your water bottle at different points of the shoe or cleat that could be causing the squeak to see if it goes away temporarily while riding. That's how I isolated my strap buckle as the source of my shoe squeak.

Also I'm pretty sure people will think you're putting out so much power that you literally have to cool off your cleats if they see you unclipping and spraying water at the bottom of your shoes.

Baby powder under the insole will usually cure this also.

If orthotics or insole squeaks remove insole and sprinkle baby powder inside then replace insole, your squeak will be gone.

My right shoe squeaked considerable until I got it to quit. The left is an entirely different matter and I'm at a loss. Maybe pursue a variety of avenues until it stops, and try to remember what you did. Probably too many watts for the shoe.

Try tightening your cleat screws.

I had a shoe squeak problem until I just screwed my cleats into the bottom of my feet. Its a bonus that so doing shed some unwanted poundage from my rig.

It took me a long time, but I finally solved the problem.
Just in case anyone else cares, or perhaps has the same issue as I had, this was my solution:
It was the zero cleat 'heal in' and\or 'heal out' float adjustment limit screw, that was causing the squeak.
Sp I unscrewed it, all the way out, lubed the crap out of it, then screwed it all the way in (until there was zero float),
then again lubed the crap out of it, and then readjusted to the desired float.
The squeak was gone.

If it isn't the hardware.... then the odds are it will be parts of the shoe have separated (glue failure) and are rubbing (the same with street shoes). Shoes don't last forever.
