Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I swear, once the frame will arrive, I will be cursed with misfortune for the rest of 2017. Maybe I should reject the package and send it back?
EMS does sit on the shipments for a while. I think they are consolidating multiple items.

They'll be placing it on the sailing ship soon.

The Santa Maria or Pinta, I believe.

Yup, delayed another week, this time by EMS. I've never had EMS not ship something in 5 days, but it still hasn't left China. Out of my mind frustrated with this whole process.

3/21

Yup still in China, hasn't reached US customs yet. This is mind boggling how this is considered Express shipping. As said I have never had EMS Express take more than 5 days before.

I have filed dispute with CC, not held liable since never received product, has been 1.5 months since ordered. I'm just tired of this BS, EMS Express shipping does not take 12 days. I don't know what game they are playing with me or why.

I have friends who have family in China and even without express shipping, shipping is faster than this. This is obnoxious.

I have talked to a few people at WorksWell to find out where they product is. None of them know where it is. Claim they called EMS and EMS doesn't know where it is. This is all BS, how does EMS not know where they shipped a product? Makes no sense.

Apparently summer is no longer in charge of this order, some person named Christy, sales manager. I don't understand what the point is intervening now, after I have already filed the dispute. Considering my dispute is, I have not received it, and it has been well over the Paypal recommended waiting period, I was told by CC that this was a clear case in my favor.

Especially when I have documentation that I have asked repeatedly many weeks for this order to be cancelled and refunded so I could order from HongFu/DengFu/MiracleBikes or anyone else who does have a frame in stock and able to ship it in reasonable time.

All I wanted to know, when it will be shipped and when I should expect to receive it. Instead I was told lies repeatedly or no answer at all. That's my grief about this process.

Wow... that sucks!

I have been following this thread because I'm looking into getting new carbon fiber frameset and was going to order via Workswell. Now I'm hesitated... Now I need to find other manufacturer...

I would do a little more research on Workswell before deciding against them. Many people have had great experiences buying frames and parts from them. Zymphad's experience seems to be the exception, not the rule

I agree something is horribly wrong here, but we have not seen this kind of thing before. I wouldn't throw an extra few hundred dollars for the other suppliers at a problem that may not really exist.

I want to add that my experience with Workswell was completely lovely and problem free. I received my frame (WCB-R-066) within 20 days of ordering, had constant communication from the person I was dealing with (she emailed me about whats going on every 3 days or so) and the frame was as expected. When they shipped the frame it had all the items it was supposed too except the seat post, which I emailed them about and they sent me a seat post within 2 days (that took about 7 days to arrive as well).

My experience with them exceeded my expectation. One of the better commerce experiences I've had with anyone, in the states or outside.

---

Also I have about 120miles on the frame now (finished the build a few days ago). It too exceeds my expectation in look and road feel. After I get 500-1000 miles on it I'll give my verdict on it. As of now (mix of rollers and road) I'm extremely happy with the purchase.

But I'm a happy enough customer now I actually emailed them for a quote on another frame for a possible build I'll do this summer.

A+ all around thus far.

Yes mine has been different than others. I am not sure. My communication for the most part cordial, were just inquiries. I did not get regular updates unless I initiated. It's still not at customs, I still don't know where the package is. I still don't have it, I ordered 02/10/17. Right now if the dispute goes through, I can say with certainty I did not receive the item.

I would suggest finding out who some people dealt with and inquiring with the same sales rep. Don't ask WorksWell-11 on Skype or summer via email.

The agents come and go. Mine is no longer there. Or maybe they just change names.

I think the later. I dealt with "Iris" the entire time via email, however...two messages, of maybe 12 or so total, stood out as a very different tone and level of English. I wonder if they just use the English names as ways of tracking and are not actually people?

You'll find things like that tin China. It always makes me laugh when I run into those types of things there.

Doesn't change my impression of them though and I'm still happy with my order.

Also I I ordered my frame on 02.13, so around the same time.

I've heard that the reason they do that to make us (and Europeans) feel comfortable communicate them using western names. Or less confusing foreign name. Maybe it's the reason why they're using it.

Yes that. Most Chinese will have a "western name. But sometimes they change them at will (like changing your outfit, it creates a different mood), especially those Chinese who never travel to English speaking (western) places. Some companies assign western names to employees (think a call center or sales) as a way to track them and/or their outputs (two birds with one stone kinda thing).

@zymphad thanks for sharing. One negative review is worth more than ten positive reviews, IMO. It must be extremely frustrating to have to deal with that, and it has directly effected the chances of me ordering through them. Sure, plenty of people with good experiences, but I don't want to take the risk and end up with the same experience as zymphad.

Zymphad, I admire your patience. I hope the frame is everything you hoped, after waiting three freaking months for it.

As san Pedro notes ... maybe they need some bad reviews on their sites, to sharpen them up a little.

I would say it's exactly the opposite.

Most people expect good customer service, and rarely write reviews when they get it because good customer service is what they expect. When people get poor customer service, they piss and moan about it to anyone that will listen, often posting the same exact review on different websites. Sometimes people even join new forums just to post the same review.

depends.

If I see a dozen "This bike is AMAZING!!!!" reviews and one detailed review that explains why the bike or some part of the experience was Not "AMAZING!!!!" I pay a lot more attention to the bad review. If the bad review is "When I assembled the bike wrong it didn't work ...." on the other hand .....

it definitely depends on the situation.

Bike reviews like "This bike is AMAZING!!!!" are usually from a guy that just spent his hard earned money on something, and he is trying to convince himself that he made the best choice.

I was speaking more specifically about reviews on customer service.

I was hopeful. But I don't know if I'll ever get it. It's still in China somewhere. Not at US customs yet. It's only a 20 hour flight from China to NY. So I'm very confused as I have their sales manager claiming it was shipped on the 11th. It's the 23rd now. 12 days for a 20 hr flight to NY? Really?

This is how every express shipment I've had from overseas. 1-2 days for product from retailer to shipper and processing for overseas shipping. 1-2 days at US customs. 1-3 days for USPS to deliver. Longest I've had for express shipping is 7 days including weekends.

But this isn't even at customs yet. At best, if it was at customs, I still have a 4 day wait.

Yer skrood.

You can either bite the increasingly bitter bullet, or cancel immediately ... but you know if you do, they will tell you the bike is en route.

I think, with the luck you have had ... if i could get all my money back, I would. I would cancel the order and say "Later, losers."

Even if you had to wait a while for a frame from a different manufacturer, at some point you would be so glad Not to be getting run around and lied to, you wouldn't mind waiting another three weeks.

Some of the equivalent frames might be a few dollars more expensive from other factories ... but the amazing peace of mind you'd have to actually have the tracking number and be seeing the frame progress towards your home ... and actually get there .... you wouldn't care if you spent a few more dollars, I think.

What did you say or do to somebody at Workswell, is what I wonder? I have never heard of them acting like this. On the other hand, who knows what is going on over there? There could have been six changes of management in the last nine months.

WTF... Talked to someone today to see if they got an update on anything, and gave me a different tracking # that doesn't work.

3/25 update: Delayed another week. No one knows where the frame is.
