What's the difference in these 2 bikes?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What's the difference in these 2 bikes?

I asked bikesdirect which bike they recommended for me and they wrote back stating both are the same. I don't think they are.

Can someone here that knows bikes help me out? Are they very similar or one is better than the other? I bike about 20 miles 3-4 times a week but don't want to spend a lot on a bike but yet don't want to get a bike from big boxed store.

Thanks.

They are functionally the same. Many of the components are the same or at least equivalent. The biggest difference appears to be styling, colors and $80.

However, the components really aren't all that different from a big box store bike.

If I had to pick between the two there is no way I could justify spending $80 more on the more expensive one.

Thanks.

I gave up looking on Craigslist and need a bike now. My decision is between these 2 and the Nashbar Flat Bar Road bike for women. I actually ordered it but had to sell it on Craigslist because I needed the 17" and not the 15" that they recommended. It was a really nice bike but now the price has gone up 50.00 so was considering these 2 from bikesdirect thinking they'd be about the same quality as the Nashbar bike.

Is that with or without the 21% off coupon? Nashbar sometimes bumps the prices up a little when they run coupons, but it still usually ends up cheaper.

The Nashbar bike is a step up. Nashbar also usually allows exchanges for sizes. You could call them up and ask if they'll honor the old price if you didn't know.

Believe me I did contact them to ask about returning and exchanging. The thing is I paid the LBS 50.00 to assemble for me and I would have had to ship it back which meant I would have had to pay the LBS 50.00 more dollars to un-assemble it. lol Nashbar also wanted me to pay return shipping but they would have paid shipping of bigger bike. It would have been too expensive to return so I sold it at a 15.00 loss so not that big a deal.

So Nashbar is a little nicer? I may just get the 17" in that then. It is a nice bike and it rode smoothly. I just didn't know about the bikesdirect bikes and if about the same as Nashbars.

Actually I got the Nashbar for 299.00 and then had bought it when they were 25% off so paid about 240 for it after 15.00 shipping cost...plus got back about 22.50 in cash back going thru BeFrugal. :-)

Now same bike is 349.99...50.00 more expensive but I'd wait for it to be 25% off.

But if bikesdirect Eclipse was so much cheaper and no shipping costs and if about same quality as Nashbar, figured I just get that. Decisions decisions.
