Replacing Shifters and Broken Rear Derailleurs

Recently, I was riding home from work and damaged my rear derailleur on my Peugeot P4 from 1986.

I wrecked the lower pulley wheel, and bent the hell out of the cage plate. The derailleur is a Sachs Huret ECO S. It seems like I have a few different options here:

1. find a replacement Sachs Huret ECO S derailleur (have struggled to find one). I've also heard that mixing and matching shifters/derailleurs is not a good idea.
2. buy a replacement pulley wheel and try to bend the cage plate back into shape (which I think i'm capable of doing, but realistically may not work)
3. completely replace the rear and front derailleur and shifter combo, which I would probably have a mechanic do, since I'm barely getting into the restoration scene and don't feel confident doing. Also very expensive.

My questions are: Is option 3 feasible (I've heard the derailleur I have is a bit crummy, so replacing the whole system sounds like something I want to do)? Does anyone know of a rear derailleur upgrade to the Sachs Huret ECO S?

Mixing and matching shifters and derailleurs is only ever an issue with indexed shifting and mainly on far more modern equipment. Chances are you can take any vintage rear derailleur from any manufacturer and it will work just fine assuming you have friction shifters. If you really want the same part go ask the guys in the Classic and Vintage forum. Someone likely has one collecting dust.
