Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Back off and let me pass!

The other day I was out riding. Coming up on a commuter on a climb, we met at the top and the road was very narrow. I think I was crushing his manhood by easiely passing him. Im on my road bike and he is on a cheap hybrid bike. All the sudden he is cranking gears try to keep pace on this dangerous road? I took a look at him and blew him away. Interesting how people respond when passing, it can be a humilating experience for some I guess.

I do that on my mtn. bike. Not when commuting though, and I do it cuz I like to have someone to keep pace with. I think it upsets the roadies though when I keep up with them

I'll have a road bike soon enough

The one I remember the most is when I was 32 or 33---I'm going down the paved trail on my road bike and pass a kid that looked to be 18 or 19 on a MTB----next thing I know he's passing me---i'm thinkin OK --you're young--you set the pace---so I just stay on him---after about 2 miles he bails---he didn't understand how you use the gears and the difference between a MTB and a roadie.

Guil---they're letting you keep up-----any serious roadie would eat you alive if you're riding a MTB.
