Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Got some info on the 2017 Specialized Allez Sprint from LBS today

I am considering an Allez Sprint atm. I like the X2 last year but it was a limited model and sold out super fast. I checked with my LBS on the availability of the 2017's last week who contacted Specialized for me today and I just got the response. I am liking the color descriptions. I loved the RAW from last year. The Black/Metalic may be my choice, but I would assume this will be speced similar to last years limited edition. Having Roval wheels and Sram Force. I dont need the wheels nor the force but love the raw look. I am in the US if you wanted to know.

"I just got off the phone with Specialized and all of the model year 17 Allez Sprints will have a braze on for a front derailleur.

At the moment, they do not have any framesets available, but they have are releasing 4 different limited colorways that will become available starting in the next couple of weeks through to December.

The colorway descriptions for the framesets are:
BLACK/METALLIC WHITE/CHECKER
BRIGHT PINK/TARMAC BLACK/LEOPARD
PURPLE ANODIZED/METALLIC WHITE/ZEBRA
Satin Gloss Black Ano Flake Silver
Pictures of these frames will be released over the next couple of weeks.

If you want to get one of these bikes sooner than later, the Allez DSW SL Sprint Comp is available now in size 56.

Here are pics:

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Cheers,"

Found these #allezsprint they match the description given in the email.

I work at a specialized dealer. The sprint frame will be available in all the smartweld allez options this year, while the e5 frame will make up the lowest three or so bikes in the family. The smartweld DSW frame that used the Tarmac fork is gone.

This was the bike I went to buy and was sold out. Its a 2016. The two pics posted are only what is available now. So if you cant wait for the new colors you can order these immediately. In the coming weeks the other colors will be released with the colors described above. So looks like a similar color to the one you posted but black instead of green, and a possible anodized purple and raw finish. The other descriptions sound interesting as well.

Looks like what he was saying is ALL the Sprints will have hangers. So there wont be any X1 specific models?

I looked at the 2x frame (gold and red) last year online and contemplated building a bike to swap with my CAAD10. The new colorways look great except for the wild forks.

That pink one is sweet, a little Pretty Boy Floyd on the ear buds and the wind at my back. Oh baby!
Seriously I do like the white frame set but usually not a fan of white.

There's not a 2017 model in the dealer catalog as of yet. Of course, they haven't completely switched to 2017 yet either.

I think it's likely because they sold a total of X*1 examples.

(Where X=1)

Hey all!

In my oppinion you wont go wrong with a Specialized, I've been riding one for a while now, aslo the brand is technically very innovative so you can rely on top of the range technology when you're buying something new.

We did sell one, to a dedicated crit racer, as a dedicated crit bike, as it was intended to be.

Would be all over that purple one if it wasn't for that fork.

Any info on the Roubiax for 2017. I heard they are redesigning it.

The one with the leopard print fork looks like something a stripper would ride.

If by wildly confused you mean ugly, then yes. Unless I'm on the selling floor and you show some interest, in which case they are uniquely you...

Our rep says they're doing a big product launch in September because they want to have stock available when it's released. He's being painfully tight lipped on details, but did say it's a more aggressive bike than earlier editions. He also called it a game changer. He's a long standing industry guy, so if he says it's a big deal, it probably really is. He also said there should be models under $3k at launch.

Probably late September then, if they're going to have any Dura-Ace bikes. Pretty much every manufacturer that I've encountered is showing mid-to-late October for DA equipped bikes. At least if they're coming with R9100.

Kudos to Specialized on waiting. My biggest frustration with Trek (Giant is a little better) is that they do these big product announcements and get you all hyped and then we find out the bike isn't available for 6+ weeks. Heck the new flagship Madone is showing January 2017 dealer availability.
