Room for water bottles?

So I just got a new bike and one of the things I was excited about was 2 water bottle mounts on the frame. I got the bike home put my bottle holders on the bike and found that the bottles wouldn't go all the way in because the bottoms were running into each other. I have origin 8 holders and there is room above my water bottles. Does anyone have ideas to move the bottle holders up so the bottles will go all the way into the holders. Or maybe just find holders that don't have the bottom as far from the mounting points?

pic is broken but usually there is some room for adjustment of the bottle cage~10mm up or down. Move them up on the mounts all the way, or get new cages that allow you to do this.

Is there a second set of mounting holes on the frame?
What size is the frame?
Maybe new cages is the only solution.

Both of those are mounted using the mounts built into the frame. The frame is a bit on the small side

2 on top of each other on one Mount, instead

which have an elongated slot. Move them all the way up in the mounting slot as a mentioned before

Yes, but the problem isn't the frame. Frame guys know what they're doing and they're always going to make sure that "standard" cages fit. By standard, I mean something like a Blackburn or King.

The bottom hole is going to be about 1-1/4" from the bottom of the cage where the bottle sits.

The cage pictured has much too large of a distance between the lower hole and the bottom of the cage.

Do this, but also check that you can still insert and remove your water bottle, which might be difficult for a large bottle on a small frame. If so, then look into the side loading cages.

They are mounted all th way up. So it looks like I'm just gonna head to the lbs and get ones that mount higher

fietsbob 08-12-16 11:58 AM

Yes... Those are the wrong cage for your frame , try again shopper.

:innocent:

Wow, those cages are a horrible design.
