My maiden voyage...
I went on my first ride with the new road bike this evening, a Specialized Allez Sport in matte black.I could tell right away that this ride is a much better fit for me than the Trek 1200 I had 4 years ago.
I have not been on a road bike in 4 years and was a little shaky starting off, but by the end of the ride I was getting accustomed to the change from the mountain bike.It was a beautiful afternoon and the traffic was sparse on the back roads that I spent most of my time on.I seem more attuned to this bike than any other bike that I have had before. The stock seat even feels great, at least on the short 1 hour maiden voyage. I am not completely tuned in yet, the LBS has a shorter stem on order, but even with that it feels great.
It is going to take time to get used to the road again. My inner thighs are really tight and I am rusty on the hills, but that will get better with time. The ride was a pleasure on the smooth blacktop, even with the tires aired up to 125. I think the fiber carbon fork and seatpost are a help on that. Not a hint of the harshness that I felt on the Trekwhich was all aluminum.
I am a very happy rider right now and can't wait to get in some epic rides.
Sorry about the long post, but I had to tell someone about the experience after being off the road for so long.
