Important helmet question
.. well no, not really. How would you go about blacking in the Cdale logo on this helmet? Simple Sharpie, or is there something easily obtained and applied, and better for the purpose? I've heard nailpolish for bikes, does it work on helmet plastic?

I would just avoid looking at it if it offended me. Not worth the trouble to black out.

I predict anything you try will make it look worse than it does now.

If you don't like Cannondale or the logo, why did you buy it?

Nail polish is a so-so thing. If you get any on the foam part of the helmet, it might eat a big hole in it very quickly. And it's unlikely to stick well to glossy plastic. I'd go with something self-adhesive.

It's not a big deal really. Just that my other helmets (Bell) have much more innocuous logos (eg. dark gray on black). Just struck me after receipt how stark and obvious the bright white in black is. Maybe I wouldn't care as much (which isn't a lot now) if I rode a Cdale bike.. The block lettering cannondale uses looks like it'd be easy to fill in, so was wondering if there's something simple (eg. available at Michael's) or such that could subdue the logo (eg. dark gray or slightly different gloss factor for black on black).
examples of what I thought I'd try getting closer to:

Vain, But Lacking Talent
I have that exact helmet. I peeled off the stickers, but they tended to rip or break apart and I did have to clean up some residue. I think I used rubbing alcohol to avoid anything that would eat up the liner or shell. It's been a while. I don't think I completely got it off, but I ended up putting another sticker over it anyway.

Nyet!
Even good quality vinyl electrical tape has poor stickability in single layer applications. Vinyl electrical tape is meant to be stretched and/or wrapped around itself in layers.

Too true.. 'twas why I was hoping somebody else already figured this out -- what to do or not do. I was looking at the Sharpie "oil-based paint" markers most recently, seeing as they're advertised in working on oil, glass, plastic, etc..

I get it. All black will enhance your ninja-like ability to be unseen by cars and other cyclists. It'd be really annoying if they saw you and took evasive action!

Thanks.. though I've come to think I don't want the logo really gone, but rather much more subdued and subtle in similar vein to the other product shots I posted above (ie. the Giro or the Kask).

This should work well. Paint on some black plasti-dip. It takes numerous coats to sketch it fully opaque. And if you don't like the result, you can remove it.

hmm.. i like the thinking. If I need to really grip my helmet with my sweaty bike hands to remove from my head, this could do the trick.. However, I thought this was only aerosoled, meaning I'd have to tape up the rest of the helmet, no?

I would avoid nail polish and any chemical that can melt styrofoam. Here's one way to cover the unwanted logos:
- Mask off the areas around the unwanted logos, being careful to cover all holes that expose the styrofoam of the helmet.
- Lightly sand the area to be painted with a fine-grit paper until all areas to be painted are dull.
- Paint with light coats of black Krylon Fusion for Plastic paint (see example here). This paint will bond with the plastic of your helmet shell and minimize the risk of pealing or scratching. The paint is available in either a glossy or flat finish.
- Each paint coat should be light and thin and should be allowed to thoroughly dry before the next coat (24-48 hours between coats). Then lightly sand the painted surface before the next coat---use a super-fine grit with an emphasis on sanding lightly so you don't sand through your new thin coat of paint. Multiple thin coats will provide a stronger, longer lasting finish. If you only want to mute the logo so it isn't so bright, you may only want to use one or two thin coats. However, you'll probably still be able to see the logo if you look closely if it is dimensional---so a fully opaque paint job may also work.
- Optional: If you chose a glossy black finish, you can spray a couple of clear coats on top of it to protect it and make it more scratch resistant.
Kind regards, RoadLight

It comes in a can you can dip stuff into, hence the "dip".
