Heathpack. I find that story amusing in an odd sort of way. I say that because I suspect that people treat their own medical conditions in much the same way. Our Addictionite Medical Doctors can confirm or deny that. For some reason we try to outsmart the root cause of the issue.

So many people are just unintelligent. They think something is true because they read it on the Internet. Logic does not matter.
"We think the flea meds caused our dogs seizures. All kinds of people on the Internet have written up their dogs story, it's always the same"
Actually that flea medication can cause seizures and other neurologic symptoms when given in combo with another led which your dog did not get. Besides, your dog was on the medication monthly for two years without incident.
"Well we know it was the medication because we called the drug company and they are paying for some of the diagnostics. Where there's smoke there's fire."
The drug company is paying for some of the tests because it's in their interest to prove another cause for the seizures besides their drug. Besides your dog had a second seizure unassociated with being given the med, right?
"All you vets say the same thing. But we've read all about it on the Internet."
Ok, whatever. Your dog is a 12 year old French Bulldog. The most likely reason she had a seizure is because she has a type of brain tumor called a glioma. We can diagnose that with an MRI.
<Fast forward 24 hours.>
The MRI shows that your dog has a glioma in the right temporal lobe. The best treatment for that is radiation therapy. It's expensive and not curative. We also need to start seizure medications.
"We're interested in the radiation therapy but not the seizure meds because we know that once we start the seizure meds our dog can't come off and we're not sure we want her on medications for life"
Well, it's not that your dog can't come off meds once she starts them so much as she is always going to have a brain tumor. We can hurt it really bad with the radiation but we can't make it go away. So the cause of the seizures will remain and without medications to suppress the seizures we could succesfully control the tumor such that it goes quiescent for the rest of her natural lifespan but she could still die from a seizure.
"We don't want to negatively impact her quality of life".
As I already told you, I'm going to prescribe a seizure medication that is very safe and has no side effects in most dogs. You will not notice any impact on her quality of life or in any case way less than what you'll see from the brain tumor itself.
"We understand. We just don't want to have her on meds for life."
So you want to go to the radiation oncologist, spend $15,000 getting the most state of the art radiation therapy there is, and then maybe have her die from a preventable seizure, all because you have a mental block to the concept of your dog being on meds?
"Yes"

"Yes"
And people do it to themselves too.

I run into the a similar situation in my chosen profession with home sales. People want to ignore the root cause and focus on the visual problem. "How do I make the house sellable?" Fix the root cause. Isn't there a cheaper way?

I'm rather impressed the Frenchie made it to twelve (especially without a heart condition). Shame about his issues now, they are such sweet dogs.
And yes, a surprising number of people are just clueless.

When we had the Greyhound, she made it to almost 14. Which, I think, for a Grey is quite old. We took her in every year for her checkup. Fortunately, we had a Vet who was quite familiar with Greyhounds. She had a good life, was loved and cared for. In my estimation, that is why she lived as long as she did.

Peloton Shelter Dog
I looked at a power meter file today for power data for the first time in a few years today.
Uh-oh.

Good work.
Funny thing about reading song lyrics. It reminds me of picking out wallpaper. With wallpaper I can never predict how it is going to look on the wall based on the foot square sample in the book. With written song lyrics I can never intuit the flow and how it will sound. Not just because I don't know what the melody is, but just because I am totally non-poetic and very musically challenged. Doesn't mean I won't like it when I hear it, just that I have no idea what to expect.
