Road Cycling

Friendly cyclist in matching kit on nice bike

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I always ask if a fellow cyclist is all good when rolling by.
I have to admit that I do this only when the cyclist looks like a commuter, racer or recreational cyclist.

When a person on a bike looks like this, I admit I do not stop and I do not ask.

And I know that's crappy of me.

I once asked a guy in a matching kit with a carbon bike (MAMIL, they call them) if he needs help as he was pushing his bike uphill on a short climb. He said yeah and laughed ......i didnt stop, just to realise he was to fat for the hill and probably embarrassed.

I just got it, I thought the OP was meaning that his and the other guys kit were matching, like they were in the same club or something - maybe even the same Tour Team

I don't know how much his bike cost, or what it was made of. I was too focused on my flat to notice.

Also, I've done the same for other cyclists.
Pics or it didn't happen...

How dare you seek to redress one of our most cherished stereotypes. Please turn in your NY card and move to Jersey or Texas or something.

I don't need to take that crap from a someone who uses a Dallas Cowboys logo as his avatar. Maybe you're the one who should move to Texas.

(I'd never suggest that anyone move to New Jersey)

Easy with the Texas bashing, I mean I don't have anything against new yorkers. In fact the first person I ever ran off the road in my pickup was a new yorker.

I definitely would move to Texas, except that if ever I'd leave Austin, I'm really in Texas, soooooo ...

But the Cowboys logo is revered across the land. Try to keep up.

Now, you're all palaver and bluster!

One of the first jobs I had out of college was in the Dallas area. I remember my first rides in north Texas. Coming from California I wondered how long it would be before some Texas redneck would try to run me off the road. I was actually a bit afraid! It didn't happen! People were so nice to me and I couldn't believe it--even when I would ride in the countryside east of Dallas! Kids, playing in their front yards, would sweetly wave to me as I would ride by and, no--they weren't giving me salutes with their middle fingers as I had gotten so used to back home! Truck drivers would give me plenty of room and would honk at me to give me encouragement (probably because they were amazed that anybody would be crazy enough to ride in 105 degree weather in that terrible humidity).

Quite surprising it was!

Yes, The Cowboys are (more like were) America's team, especially back when they had the All American boy at QB.

But to be fair, we should say throughout America, except for a strip of coastline running from Connecticut to northern VA.
