How to fit yourself for a saddle?
I don't have time to drive to my LBS (crazy schedule for the next 3 months). I'd prefer to order online. Is there a decent way to fit yourself for a saddle?
Thanks! |
By the way, I'm currently looking at this saddle: https://www.amazon.com/Fizi-Arione-S...ct_top?ie=UTF8
It seems to have decent reviews. If it helps I'm a smaller guy at 5'7 160lbs. |
Not really. Saddles are one of those things you need to try. If you'll go the online way make sure to order from someone with a good return policy.

Also, Fizik pushes their spine/flexibility deal. If you haven't already, look through their site for bull/snake/whatever distinctions and see if they think the Arione is right for you based upon your flexibility. At the end of the day, though, it's as Pepe says - you still gotta get your ass on it and be prepared to hit a few duds before you find what works.

Trying to find a saddle is awful. The only way to know if a saddle is going to work is to ride on it for a few rides. The problem is you cannot just throw it on there and hope for the best. The saddle can be the perfect saddle for you, but if you have the angle or setback off, it can feel terrible.
The best way to get a new saddle is through a fitter who will position it right for you and then let you take the demo saddle home. If it is not perfect, come back two weeks later, wash, rinse, and repeat before deciding on the saddle to buy. If you don't have access to or time for a fitter, I recommend finding a shop or an online service that will let you demo saddles before purchasing one. I think finding a saddle with good reviews online and purchasing it is a expensive mistake waiting to happen. |
