Is there a brighter tail light than the Dinotte Quad Red . . .

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I know the DiNotte 400R is even brighter but I don't know the battery options/configurations. If you don't get a good answer here you may want to cross post in electronics.

Not only does this claim to be brighter at 250 lumens; it's cheaper and has some interesting features -
react by flashing brighter and faster at roundabouts, road-junctions, approaching car headlights at night, travelling into shade and tunnels,
if you have a crash, ICON can auto notify your nominated contact of your GPS location. Early Theft Deterrent Alarm - instantly notifies you if your bike is moved while you are not with it. Ideal for club cyclists while on a coffee stop, etc.

There are several that are brighter, but they all (that I know of) have external batteries. I have the Quad Red and the Dinotte 400R+ (Daytime) which is 400 lumens, but has an external battery. I find the Quad Red (200 Lumens) to be bright enough for daytime use.

I have the earlier Dinotte with internal battery, USB. I think it's 300 lumens. Don't know where you'd find one though.

You don't have to spend a couple hundred dollars to get a really bright light that runs on rechargeable batteries. Try a simple CREE XML-T6 flashlight with the red LED. CREE lists the maximum output for the red T6 emitter as 800 lumens. You would need to buy a few 18650 batteries and a charger. Several batteries and a decent basic charger costs under $10 on eBay. The flashlight runs for several hours on a fully charged battery. Red light flashlight $8.54 https://www.ebay.com/itm/800Lumens-CR...wAAOSwDNdVn3U6
and the mount $1 https://www.ebay.com/itm/360-Degree-C...sAAOSwZ8ZW71CU
I own both of these. Mount it on the seatpost or frame facing backwards. I've tried the USB rechargeable lights by Raypal (identical to Blitzu 100 and 168 lumen taillights but at half the price) and while they are good for daytime use the flashlight is much better for night since it is many times brighter.

Why would you need anything brighter than the Dinotte? Even that has to be angled down a reasonable amount to make it tolerable for following cyclists.

My buddy has the Flare R, and honestly I don't know why anyone would need something brighter. I can see him from a mile away with that thing. I imagine any brighter would be annoying for other cyclists and drivers alike.

I'm concerned about the teen that's too busy texting to pay attention to what might be on the road. This light would be for when I ride solo/commute; I do one group ride a week and wouldn't run a light this bright in a group.

My opinion is that I want to be shockingly, annoyingly, distractingly bright, so much so that you can't help but notice me even if you're texting. So yes, I want something brighter than a Dinotte, if it's available.

Most of my riding is solo so this is not an issue. Also, you can set three different levels of brightness as well as multiple different configurations at the chosen level of brightness. The variable strobe seems the brightest, most noticeable one to me. Outside of being extra bright, the company puts out a very high quality product and has superior customer service.

To me, that is exactly what the Falre R does. It is very noticeable even in daylight. That is why I suggested it.

Anyways, good luck with your search.

This.

Plus you can stick it on the left drop, which causes motorists to take a wider pass, and you can easily control it as needed (e.g. turn it off/down when in a group).

WF-501b is the model that takes 18650 LI, but the one shown here WF-501a takes half-sized 18350 LI.

I run them in flash mode.

Not to go really OT, but what's the brightest taillight people have come across that mounts well to a seat stay (rather than seatpost)?

Even more dangerous than the texting situation is riding into rising or setting sun.

This light is bright enough to keep me visible, competing with direct sunlight, dirty windshields, and shadows.

Really, the marketing lumens advertised on lights is mostly misrepresentation.

I believe flashing is more important than overall brightness. The flashing light draws my eyes to the hazard. Just recently I was driving and came upon a cyclist with a flashing rear light that really grabbed my attention. That flashing light was such a focal point that I was next the rider before I also realized he was wearing a reflective work vest.

Just my two cents.

Dinotte has the best package of mounting hardware I've ever seen. It'll mount to anything. Even different sizes of seatstay mounts.

Yeah I know that. I'm saying the cygo and niterider are superior with 150 lumens and cost significantly less.

Dinette's are $200 for 200 lumens vs 150 lumens for less than $50.

The only limitation I see here is side lighting.

Cree don't make an 800lm red XML. They do a multi coloured (red blue green white) XML but I don't think thats what's in your flashlight. It puts out about 100lm.
https://www.cree.com/~/media/Files/Cr...pXML_Color.pdf

I think the brightest red crees are the XP-Es, they put out around 200lm.
https://www.cree.com/~/media/Files/Cr...g/XLampXPE.pdf

There hasn't been much recent progress in red LED output, what we're seeing lately with these new lights is small higher capacity Li-ion batteries.
