LBS Moron and should i deal with this LBS?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

LBS Moron and should i deal with this LBS?

https://www.dornellas.com/

went into this LBS today and asked the guy if they had any Cannondale six 13 dura ace.
Guy looks at me and says, "we don't carry them, they aren't good" with a r u stupid look on his face.

I gave him an OK ****nut look and asked him, "whay aren't they good?"
he didn't have answer for me.

https://www.dornellas.com/DOrnellasPr...d=86&from=Road
I saw this bike on display and fell in love with it.
Its on sale for $7499 CDN in store.
Im going to blow all my tax return and maybe even dip into my savings.
Im not sure if i should deal with these guys or go down to New York city and pick this same bike up for $1200 CDN less. Im in Toronto by the way.

Competitive Cyclist has it as well... they want $9381 for a full DA version of that bike.. $8932 for an Ultegra10 version.. $9332 for Campy Record.. and that's USD! yikes!

https://www.competitivecyclist.com/za...RODUCT.ID=1233

I wonder if the version you're looking at on that site is a 2004? The color scheme is quite a bit different and it's a ton cheaper so I would bet that it is. The 2005 is apparently quite improved over the 2004 model.

I've been there before and some of those guys
actually helpful but the most shops have these
idiots that have obvious, stupid sales tactics.
In Toronto, most of the shops have these idiot
so next time they start talking, just ignore them

From the look of your LBS website they don't carry Cannondale, that might be why you got the look and answer you did.

Could you have maybe vented about the LBS and not posted it's name and location? Negatively effecting a small business, potentially putting them out of business, based on a single bad experience is pretty ****ty in my opinion. I'm right about this.

You went to a shop that DOESN'T carry Cannondale and asked if they had one? Is that right? Then you got mad because a salesman said a bike he doesn't stock is crap?

Go to a Toyota dealer and ask to test drive a new Honda...guess what, the salesman will look at you stupid and tell you they're crap. Are you going to post their Website online and complain on the automotive boards?

I don't get why you're mad at them...seems to me you should research your purchase before bashing them online.

True...

I live in Toronto, Dornella's has great prices and a great owner [Eon Dornella...]
And I agree with PJ... but with bike shops, I know some can make special orders if you REALLY REALLY want to deal with them... but you should not bash them because they do not carry a brand... it's not in their best interests... as they already carry TWO big american guns [Specialized and Giant]... having Cannondale, spreads their product and garage by too wide a margin...

A simple answer like we don't have Cannondales would've been fine.

Your not making any sence, I didn't walk into a bike shop that only sells Specialized bikes and ask for a Cannondale.

If you read the post i think you would've understood what i was talking about.
what possible research could i do about an LBS before visiting the store? Location?

I'm pissed at the sales tactics these guys use.
His lame attempt at bashing cannondale and then when i asked why they were bad he
shrugged his shoulder.

I had a similar problem with another store. I bought a Cannondale R500 and replaced the shifters.
Now they won't service my bike. I understand if its only the shifters they won't service, but they said no to my derailleurs.

I'm sure you'll be very considerate about a business that tries to screw you over because you didn't walk in with a lycra shorts and poser shirt.
