Kestrel sizing vs Trek
Hi Guys,
A cousin is currently riding a 62 Trek which is way too large for him, and a 58 would be a nice fit. He is now looking at a Kestrel RT 1000.
Any suggestions as to which Kestrel might be around the fit of a Trek 1.1 58?
The reach on the Kestrels seem so short for all the sizes. Is there some error in the reach figures on the Kestrel site?
Lives in India so this has to be online without a ride.

Which Kestrel?
You want the '59' Kestrel.
The 59 is 13mm taller in the stack which can be easily reduced (to match the Trek 58) by removing a 10mm stem spacer, or so (the bike will come with at least 20mm of spacers).
The 59 is -4mm in the reach, which can be easily modified by for example, switching to a +5mm stem length.
Both the Kestrel 59 and the Trek 58 have a 73deg seat angle, so that is good.

The reach figures for the Kestrel. They look a bit short to me. You think they are correct?

They will be correct.
The Kestral model is one of the more-short-reach geo carbon frames out there.
I've seen them up close.
Note that the reach of the drop bars supplied with the bikes may be different also. You may want to see if you can find those specs online.
But that Kestral 59 will be fine if your cousin would be happy on the 58 Trek.
