Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Anyone have Mavic clothing/gear?

i know their wheels dont carry the same reputation they used to have, due to charges of proprietary everything, being late to the game with carbon, modern width, etc

but what about their clothing? in general i like the clean aesthetics and the subtle yellow signature. but how are they functionally in terms of durability, weatherproofing, warmth, ventilation, skin feel, etc?

ive only got the cosmic ultimate shoes and like them lots. considering new cold weather gear... castelli/assos/santini/sportful/rapha seems to be the talk of the town but mavic catches my eyes

I have one of their older model Cyclone jacket, and it's one of the most versatile piece of garment I own, beats Assos/Rapha/Castelli stuff which I also have. Whenever I am not sure about the temperature range for the day (anywhere between 25-50 degrees), I just grab it and it has never let me down yet. I also have a summer kit from Mavic, very nice and wicking material, but the chamois is on the thin side. Overall, I think their technical garments are very nice and good quality on par with the other premium brands. What's keep them from getting more popular is their styling, a little "weird".

I picked up pieces as they go on sales, I like the gloves a lot. I am ok with the jersey and bib fit. It is not as well cut as Assos/Rapha/Cannondale.

I picked up a set of Mavic gloves at an LBS. Cheap, $20. After 10 rides they are falling apart but I am rough on gloves.

I have a Mavic jersey I bought at the suggestion of someone here a few years ago which is my go-to jersey when it is really hot out. Has held up fine for 3-4? years. Also a pair of Mavic bibs that are first rate. Both bought mail order as no one locally carries their clothing

I have a pair of their shoes, they're ok, a little narrow for my feet though so I'll be looking for some new ones this off-season.

I have summer 3 jerseys and they fit great. For winter below 35F, my go to bib tights is a Mavic Inferno. EXCELLENT cold and wind protection so I don't need to layer-up on that part (better than PI thermal). Only issue I have with it is that it's a little long so it bunches up on the ankle. However, at that temps, I wear a shoe cover so it hides the excess.

I have some Mavic armwarmers. Fluorescent orange with a 1" reflective band running lengthwise. Good product. They get a lot of use this time of the year.

My wife has their carbon-soled MTB shoes and loves them, but that might just be for the color (bright yellow)...
