SRAM crankset spindle length djungle

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

SRAM crankset spindle length djungle

I'm looking to upgrade my wife's new bike crankset from FSA Gossamer to a lighter and better looking one. I'm thinking of Force22 or S952. The bike is a Specialized Ruby elite Disc 2016 (BB30 shell).

I've been searching the web like mad trying to find SRAM crankset spindle lengths (30 mm axle).
The "normal" BB30 spindle is designed around the 68 mm BB shell, but as seen on picture, the Force22 spindle is considerably longer and uses a spacer to accomodate the 68 mm BB shell.

There is also the S-series cranks which have the text "wide axle" etched (see picture). And is supposed to be adapted for bikes with 135 mm OLD (i.e. disc brake road bikes) Is the spindle/axle even longer on SRAM S902/952 cranksets?

It's all very confusing. Can someone just post a line-up with SRAM road crankset 30 mm spindles and a tape measure beside each spindle?
Like this BB386EVO vs BB30 comparison:

Just a guess as I have never had experience with BB30, but it seems that the longer crank is for PF30 with inner bearings while the shorter one is for PF30 with outboard bearings.

No, BB30 and PF30 are both internal bearing systems. The Force BB30 entry in the SRAM line is actually BB30A, the longer type. Just get that and use the spacers. No problem. The bearings, either BB30 (bare bearing cartridges) or PF30 (cartridges installed inside plastic cups) can be reused and don't have to come out unless they are acting up. Either type works with the Force spindle and the right amount of spacers.

Or go down to Rival or up to Red to get the standard length BB30 spindle. I am pretty sure Force is the only one offered in the BB30A configuration.

The extra long spindle is to accommodate not only BB30 and PF30, but also BBright and BB386. You also can fit it in many PF86 frames, but to do that, you run tiny bearings in the BB, which seems silly.

But yes, Sram provides spacers to make the spindle work in regular BB30 or PF30 frames.

Do you refer to the S9x2 "wide axle" specifically or does the Force22 have the same axle length? This chart implies this but it is hard to know https://sram-cdn-pull-zone-gsdesign....components.pdf

^Also this.

It's actually not all that hard to figure out. Just get the crank that lists your standard. If it lists it then it will work with the correct configuration and/or spacers.

Force 22 crank will work with 68mm bb30 shell. I had it on my caad 10. You will need the 13mm drive side spacer from SRAM to make it fit.
