Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cannondale ss black inc?

I was offered a 2014 Supersix black inc frame by a riding buddy for $700, it is obviously a good deal but I want to hear your thoughts. I will probably move the components from my current bike over to it.

As long as it's the right size, go for it. You can recoup some $$ by selling the Fuji.

I'm curious as to what exactly you are hoping to discover here. You haven't mentioned anything specific you are hoping to sort out by bringing your question to the table. You wanted to hear our thoughts about what? Its a great offer and you know it is, what else is there to talk about here? And just to confirm here, I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything of the sort. I saw your post and being an Evo HM, I was eager to see what was going on. After reading your post, I'm at a loss in what to say other than...good deal. Hope it works out for ya. Not sure if its earlier than 2014 or not, but a buddy of mine has an early production evo black inc and he mentioned that he has had issues with 25mm tires clearing the chain stays. He bought some of the Vittoria G+ tires 25mm and had to sell them because they didn't clear. Something to look into I guess.

How is the ride? Should I move the group set from my Fuji? I am also able to get a Dura Ace 7900 group set at a good price, is that to old for the frame?

I wouldn't say 7900 is too old at all. I run 7900 on my 2015 evo HM. It is my group set of choice. I've had the opportunity to get Di2 and even campy SR and I've passed on both because I absolutely love my 7900. It's flawless and comfortable.

Ride quality is fantastic. Stiff and "muted". I always use the word muted to describe the ride. I feel it does a great job ubsorbing vibration of the road. The stiffness of the frame feels great without being too stiff like an Aero frame. The incredibly light frame is great for all around riding and climbing as well.

If you like the 7900 and can get a good deal on it, then do it!

My 2014 ss evo (not hm) doesn't clear 25s in the back. I ride 25 in the front and 23 in the rear. I've heard the same thing from others.

Something to consider when ordering tires.. Also when rotating them (if you do that sort of thing.)

Not great photos but I fit 25mm Schwalbe Pro1s/Enve 3.4's on my 2013 SS EVO (non hm)...will find out shortly if they fit on the 2017 EVO.

Why would you put a 10 speed groupset on an EVO, unless it comes with the bike. You need that extra gearing if you want to climb. I can't imagine doing any sort of events with over 5-10K of elevation on a 10 speed. Gotta spin to win baby.

That one random cog in the middle makes a big difference for you then?

It's a difference of getting dropped or not in a fast group hilly ride, so yes. Why put yourself in a disadvantage when you have a choice in the 1st place? You can buy an 11 speed groupset now for practically the same price as the 7900 DA.

For when I am climbing in Florida? I don't think that cog will be a big deal.

Geez louezz I still ride a 9 speed on one bike of mine and smoke several ride buddies running 11 speed. Where do you get that data?

Lol that's one of the dumbest things I've heard all year on this forum and there have been a lot of stupid things said.

Congrats!

What does Spinning have to do with the quantity of cogs?
