Enve Classic 45 Clincher weight limit

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Enve Classic 45 Clincher weight limit

I am thinking about picking up a set of Enve Classic 45 Clincher wheels for my S-Works Tarmac. My training rides are normally about 45 KM with very minimal hills. (It's a river trail). They are 20/24 spoke count and I am having trouble figuring out what the weight limit is. I would prefer to not say my weight yet to try and get some un-biased opinions.

Thanks!

I don't think there's a rider weight limit on any Enve wheels. How well they'll hold up under you depends not just on the spoke count and your weight but (obviously) what kind of roads you ride on (smooth or broken pavement, etc) and how you ride.

As a Clyde myself, I've just researched this a couple weeks ago. No rider weight limit on Enve wheels. They are able to mold spoke holes rather than drill, Which makes them stronger. They seem to be an awesome product, Just more than what i wanted to spend for my first set of carbon wheels.

I'm pretty sure there isn't a weight limit, but give Enve a call. Their customer service is excellent.

I have the 45mm tubulars and 45/65mm clinchers. Awesome wheels. Get a good deal because they've been discontinued.

My understanding is that there's no weight limit.

Which is fantastic for a Large-Marge like me.

If I wasn't already happy with my cheeseburgers for wheels, I'd be inclined to get a set.

I believe ENVE knows how to build a wheelset so make the purchase and enjoy your new wheels. I'm 225lbs and both of my current wheelsets are 16/20 spoke count and have never given me problems, plus look what merlin said above, 340lb team weight!

Do you know the lineage of Mercury rims? Are you suggesting they might be re-branded Enve rims? Thx

Enve doesn't make a 55mm rim.

Thanks for the responses guys. I'm 205 lbs (92kg) but also losing some weight slowly. I ended up buying a bike with the wheels on it and I'm gonna swap wheels with my current bike and sell that bike. Hopefully I can sell the bike for close to what I paid so I'm not out that much.

Thanks again.

I do not think they are Enve. I know the Mercury owner and they are tied to the Taiwan suppliers. They source from different suppliers for rims. They use Sapim spokes and their own hubs. I don't know the bearings. They are silky smooth. I have a lot of wheels (20+ sets). That deal is very good.

I have them and from what I have seen/read, the limit is 240lbs.

Hope this helps.
