Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Mine is a 56cm and the frame weighed 849 grams. Pretty solid frame. Got over 2000 miles on it so far and counting.
So I could build up the frame with either a mechanical or electronic group? I have decided not to go for a disc road bike but am still deciding between the different Ultegra groups.

I sent an email to them to get the ball rolling.

Yup so you can do elec or mechanical. FYI if you go this route the BB is actually BBRight so whatever you decide to do, just make sure it's BBRight. The frame is exactly like an R3.

What sort of data do you hope to see from a test that would prove one frame is better or worse than the other?

Best is direct from Workswell. You just email the sales info address and they will get back to you to provide a quotation. They take the order and email you a invoice that you pay with PayPal.

Comes with a Shimano BB adapter so no worries about BBright. The supplied adapter is quite heavy so you may prefer to buy a lighter one from Wheels Manufacturing, Praxis, etc. I also opted for a Cane Creek headset and just threw the one they supplied into the spare parts bin.

Yes, don't have the BB adapter installed even if you want to use it. Having the BB shell empty makes it much easier to run the internal cables. All cable fittings and plugs for various holes in the frame are supplied.

@PepeM---I have seen Workswell videos of them bashing their frames with heavy pieces of metal ... but that could be faked.

Otherwise ... what is a frame supposed to do? Keep the proper relationship between headset, BB, and axles, I guess.

We cannot even decide if frame flex is a good or bad thing-- I can say, the WW-066 won't flex, whichever that means.

To me, a bad frame breaks. A heavy frame weighs a lot. An uncomfortable frame transmits every bump and lots of buzz.

The WW-066 is pretty light, stiff if that actually helps or not, fairly comfortable (really can't put fat tires on it, but I have 290 tpi Vittorios) and it has never folded up on me .... A lot of other posters here have the same frame and all praise it.

Based on all that ... yeah, it is a good frame.

Looking over the Workswell site I found another frame that is interesting. Is there any opinion out there about the "WCB-R-107" model? Heavier but aero...

The R-066 is actually pretty aero by itself. I have 45/55 aero wheels on mine and am constantly able to coast past others who are pedaling to keep up. Remember that it's identical to a Cervelo R3 in terms of geometry, tube lengths, shape, etc.

Yes sorry I forgot that it is a Shimano adapter.

I also went with the Cane Creek headset. If I did it again though, I would have gone with the shorter top cap for less stack.

Great choice, unfortunately it sold out the first month it became available.

Another vote for the Workswell 066. Great frame and I used a Wheels Manufacturing BB. I have about 500 miles on it, love it.

A bit over your price range ($2700) but the Allied Alfa seems intriguing to me. Rim brakes and BSA BB.

I done my reading and I'm 95% leaning in the direction of the Workswellbikes WCB-R-066. I have three questions for existing owners of Workswell frames;

1). I'm ordering it as is, unpainted black, as that's a big part of the appeal (I loath frame "graphics"/paint). I will be able to ride the unpainted bike, for the life of the bike, with no issues? Anyone having any issues? Do I need to specify anything when I order about the frame finish?

2). I'll be putting a Ultegra BB in. Is it really that bad for them to put the adaptor in for me? If read it is harder to thread the internal cables and that the factory one is heavy. I'd like the option of swapping out a lighter adaptor at some point. Is it just better for me to fit the BB adapter myself?

3). The rear deraileur hanger is the same a Cervelo? Meaning if I damage it somehow I should be able to get one at any Cervelo dealer? I am going to buy and extra from WW but I'm curious.

And one more onscreen I'm asking...

4). How is the seatpost? Any issues or is it something people swapped out?

Thanks again!

Will you consider used?

The price on the last generation Venge has plummeted. You could probably get an all black S-Works frame in your budget.

rpenmanparker and rms13 have unpainted CF. No complaints.

I got a Super six Black inc frame for $600. You may be able to find a lightly used frame for your price range that would go for more new.

I don't know how that adapter works, if it is threaded for your Ultrega BB. It may be easier to use Wheels mfg BB for bbright to shimano 24, no adapter needed.

I ordered the WCB-R-085 instead because it has standard BSA threaded with similar geometry and weight as the 66.

The seatpost is standard open design. I have used them in past, but I did wreck it because overtorqued. I recommend the ritchey 5nm torque wrench, solved those problems for me.
