Agreed. I have tried at least 12 pairs of BOA shoes but always get heel slip that I dont get with a ratchet. Getting tougher to find a higher end shoe with a ratchet. I've tried the SIDI with the bucklet....still sloppy in the heel.

I heard that there's new USB BT motorized boas coming out.
Controllable from your head unit or phone. Just don't forget to charge them... |
I'd put Boas at 2nd best option.

Have you tied a pair of Sidi shoes with their heel rentenion system? |

Piling on the semi-zombie thread, I just got my first BOA shoes and love them. Then again, the only other cycling shoes I have use laces, so the leap in fit and comfort is unsurprisingly huge. I've already started looking into other BOA shoes. I saw a review that the Shimano RC9s are so snug around the heel that the reviewer didn't even engage the BOA dial to keep them on.
Shimano RC9s are so snug around the heel....they arent. |
Not mentioned yet is that not all Boas are the same. I like to have the option to adjust my shoes while riding. For that reason, I dislike the single-direction Boas (that only allow you to tighten the shoe using the micro-adjust). I like the Boa version that allows small adjustments in both directions -- tighter or looser -- while going down the road. They are on my fizik shoes and they are the only Boas I have ever really liked.
"Watsa matta witchu boa?" |

"Watsa matta witchu boa?" The adjustable ones might solve that problem. |

I love the look of Giro shoes, but I hear they run on the narrow side. Do you think that's accurate?
