Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yes, except take out the mystery and perhaps even the satellite and you've got OLN: Outdoor Life Network on Cable TV. Also home of spectactular fishing specials and bull riding excitement, among other things.

Yep, I'm so glad I got to see rednecks outsmarting deer with high powered rifles instead of watching the Giro during the week.

If your front porch collapses and atleast three dogs get killed.....you might be a red neck!

If someone ever accuses you of lying through your tooth...you might be a red neck!

It's simple. All you need to do is pull together about $50 million in startup money, hire a couple of hundred people, lease a studio and equipment and arrange for satellite time, secure rights to cover all the races, sell your package to the various cable services, line up a year's worth of advertisers... and you're in business.

Oh yeah, one other thing... you've got to make a profit fairly quickly or you'll be gone in three months.

Except for all those things, it should be easy.

Too bad they can't literally give the deer high powered rifles. Those hunting shows would be much more interesting if they gave the animals a way to fight back. At least add an unleashed alligator or some randomly placed landmines inbetween the hunters and the animals to spice up the action. Maybe send an Air Force jet overhead to strafe the hunting grounds periodically.

Deer populations must be *managed* due to lack of predation. Got a better solution than hunting... bring it on. Mayhaps they should be slaughtered humanly the way cattle, swine and sheep are.

I think they should allow them to hunt with only a knife. I think that would make it much more interesting, and fair.

Big game knife hunting......
