Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I still miss the Greyhound. Fortunately or unfortunately we now have a Goldendoodle. He's a good dog. About 9 months.

I love the Bears as much of more than you do. Sadly, I'm not optimistic about the draft for them.

i'm not in the market for any new road bike. i'm not even in the market for fancy new wheels. i've spent any bike aqcuistion funds on car repairs, bike repairs and a new hiking pack.

Ha! I actually just texted them, "Don't worry about dropping me but I'm locking the beer in my car."

Always good to see Peyton.

We know going in that day is coming. That's why it's pretty easy to treat them right. Never hurts to give that extra ear scratch, or taking them for that walk, even though it's not very nice out. Keeping them happy is only fair, because they do the same for us, in spades.

There really isn't that much difference in how Scarbo handled it compared to the other ways. The horse was happy, knew it was loved, and quickly felt no pain. The end result is ripping our hearts out, but the good thing is, that same heart has room for another one to give a good life to.

I had a marvelous ride. I was Superman.
Hasta mañana. Enjoy the draft.
Then discuss motorsports.
Get it all out of your systems.
Tomorrow is a new day.

Totally a personal decision. It is like the joke about the woman offered $1,000,000 for sex. When you first get the dog, you have already accepted that you will likely personally make the decision to put it down. We are just haggling about when. And that is up to no one but you.

we're starting to confront that with a 13 year old lab, with "doggy alzheimers", actually canine cognitive deficit disease.

Not so much the money in our case ( although the drugs are $200 a month) as the aggravation of increasing incontinence.

There's a balance of the cost, aggravation to us, and the quality of her remaining life that has to be balanced. Not easy decisions.

The draft always reminded me of horse racing. There's no guarantee the top picks are going to win, some slug could win. It's just a crap shoo, that's why they call it gambling.

This pretty well sums up dog ownership.
