How about Prescott, AZ? It's also at elevation. Very nice town.

Prescott is nice. I like Payson too - I did my 1st MTB race there in 89.

Jerome is a good one too.

It's frikkin 83A in the HV right now. By comparison it's only 77A in Tallahassee and 66A in Phoenix.

Not sure if you listened to "Serial" back in the day, but those producers have a new podcast that everyone's all aflutter about called "S Town". I haven't started it myself, but my wife has been enjoying it.

It's on my dl list. I've got a backlog but I'll get around to it. Today, I got caught up on Planet Money, one of my favorites.

PepeM What was the final verdict? Is your Trek toast or not?

No, nothing wrong with it (well, the bearings were toast.) Whoever looked at it in the other shop is an idiot apparently. It now rests safely back at home, away from the hands of careless customers.

With a good location you can make decent money with a cart. Profit margins are high, and it's all cash, if you know what I am getting at. I got paid $25/day in cash at the end of the day--usually all in $1 bills. On busy days the cart would take in some $300. Not bad for 1982.

Back then, most of the carts were owned by Greeks. For "tax reasons," they often kept a lot of their cash stashed in their houses and would periodically take it to Greece during their vacations to deposit it. When they were ready to retire, the kids or some relatives from Greece would take over the business. The day I went to get my bar exam results I stopped at a cart for a pretzel. The guy working the cart turned out to be the son of the guy who owned the cart I worked. He had been about 12 back then.

My car is very beat up (most body panels, cracked windshield). Not sure on the new minivan or the roof yet.

That just sucks. Hail is a pita, and if it's like here, you'll be getting knocks on the door from "roofers".

A word to the wise. If you talk about anything but food here, you'll likely get your arm gnawed off.

How do you feel about leaving your bike at the shop?

Just visited his place this weekend. It was interesting to confirm what I already knew, that all the fancy Japanese knife stuff is just hobbyist fare. Currently his main chef knife is a Henckel. What he does seem to get all hobbyist fanatical about is sharpening stones, he has a wide range of those.

Theirs are Japanese

They don't seem to go back that far. I had a hard time finding Addiction I, in 2010

I love this time of year. A dry 84 right now, light breeze. Lunches take place in the back yard while getting some sun.

Unpossible - the aforementioned survey with a sample size of 1 says otherwise.
