Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Did most of my MTV watching when they first launched. Mainly during the wee hours of the morning, after getting home from work - store closed at midnight.

WFMU is my favorite from that part of the world. I tune in on the internet from time to time.

Philly had a tortured history getting wired for cable. For a long time only limited neighborhoods had it. I worked on 4th & South in the early 80s bussing tables and washing dishes. This eclectic store across from TLA called Paper Moon could get it. They put a TV in the window and a little speaker out front. During by breaks I would walk down to the next block and watch these cool things called music videos. South St. was the hip placer to be back then. I always wore my apron so women could see how cool I thought I was because I worked down there.

My step brother owned a video production company that did some work for MTV, including one of the openers for their show "The Head Bangers Ball." He got me one of those original MTV t-shirts with the moon guy holding the flag logo. Wish I had taken care of it. it might be worth something today/some day.

I had to watch music videos on the local pbs station on Sunday mornings.

Bananarama was the highlight.

They are pretty much the only two stations I listen to at home. My cat likes the evening jazz on RTI. If I am in the car in the morning I will put on the Preston & Steve Show on WMMR. It's usually quite hilarious. David Sedaris was a guest yesterday morning.

I go between WXPN, WHYY (NPR etc) and KYW (news).

Actually, we're not sending anyone, the Australia Bureau of Meteorology is going to send someone from Melbourne, only 1800 miles away.

Skills required is no big deal. Instructions are to "nintendo" the cards.

Just made the short walk to the printer and back. Someone's deodorant has failed them today. There are only a few people in today so I have narrowed it down.

No. I am the only one who bikes to work.

On the bright side, at least our admin. isn't walking around with her zipper down. I noticed that she was last week. A co-worker told me she's done it several times before.

You know you want the TB12 (<---- if that's not the model number, it should be).

So I don't go to "Performance Bike Shop" more than once/year, but somehow I am on their idiot list.

I noticed they are advertising they take "trade-ins" on new bikes.

I wonder what they do with the trade-ins, anyone know?

They probably melt them down so people buy more GTs and Fujis!
