Cadence on flats
Just curious what cadence you all do when riding flats.
My last ride 2 days ago when riding a long 2 mile flat (river road) I really was watcing my cadence. My cadence varied from 83 to 86 rpm's. Thanks Steve |
I'm usually around 100-110.

60-70

Florida is where I live and the flats are something we all know about down here. Although cadence is a personal thing, I maintain between 90 and 100...probably averaging low 90's.
If I'm getting into a 53/14 or bigger however, and the wind is not behind me I'll let that drop down into the low 80's. |

My cadence has dropped hard, but the reason why is I can now pull speed off with muscle mass instead of just spinning like mad.
|
Around 75-80 on flats, dropping to about 64 on hills. I like pedaling at a lower cadence as it allows me to sprint very quickly without changing gears.
|
my ideal cadence is around 92-97.

80-85

edit - Cadence on flats? I usually stop when I get a flat! :p
I am 6'3" with a 36" inseam and use 180 mm cranks. My preferred cadence (when riding alone) on flats is about 85 rpm. If I'm in a paceline, maybe 95. |
100 ... i feel sluggish otherwise

Cruising would be around 90. Racing about 105. On the flat.
