Combine Sram Apex 10 speed with Rival & Force
 

Hi

Will it be possible to combine Apex 10 speed with the SRAM Force or Rival 22 Yaw front derailleur?
Today I have everything is Apex; shifters and rear Derailleur.

From what I can find online, this should be possible.

I need to change the front derailleur and would like to start to upgrade, so this could be the first step.
I am also looking to add a SRAM RED Crankset and for this a yaw front derailleur is needed.

I think so.

Yeah, you should be able to mix the shifters and FDs. FDs tend to be pretty interchangeable, so long as you are not trying to mix triple and double. Some combinations work better than others, but they still work.

Also, you do not need the Yaw FD for the Red crankset. Sram says they "optimized" to work best together, but you can use whichever on there.

I previously ran an old Rival 10s FD on a bike with Sram Force 22 Yaw chainrings. It worked as well as it does with a Red Yaw FD.

The SRAM RED 2x10speed - krankset BB30 I am looking at is only compatible with SRAM Red Yaw™ Front Derailleur.

It will work fine with other FDs. Sram claims that, but practice has proven that claim false.

As I understand it, the Yaw mechanism is self contained in the FD. I don't think the lever is special except that it has no trim stops. It doesn't need them. If your lever has trim stops, no big deal, just ignore them.

I have this exact setup and it works perfectly.
