Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Sorry, suckers! I just found the last two examples of the greatest multitool ever!

In a manifestation of divine providence which I'm further taking as proof that my current bike build project is right and good, despite the protestations of my wife and creditors, I found, from a bike shop in Wales, two rare NIB examples of what is certainly the greatest multitool ever made, the Ritchey CPR9.

It went out of production probably a couple of years ago for reasons I do not know, but I consider this high-functioning, easy to handle, incomparably light (27g) multitool to be, second only to the mountainbike itself, Tom Ritchey's most brilliant creation!

I look, but I haven't seen on for sale in about a year, so finding two of these scarce tools is really a fantastic thing for a dork like me! Now I can build TWO new bikes! MUAHAHAHAHA! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

BEHOLD!!!!!!

Any multi-tool with a bottle opener is an automatic keeper.

Whenever someone on the forum says, "man, I wouldn't want to take a spill with that in my jersey pocket!" I think to myself, "oh, shut up you idiot." Yet the first thing that I thought when I saw that pic is, "man, I wouldn't want to take a spill with that in my jersey pocket."

Yeah, that's definitely not a recommended placement!

"Chillingly known by the moniker, The Spinal Tapper, the Ritchey CPR9's useful but spiny protrusions hint at a more sinister nature."

Reminds me of the stage-electrician's multi-tool lovingly dubbed the "Jesus Wrench" when it first came out:

Very similar to the Park Tool M1, with similar limitations. When adjusting a saddle fore and aft, the protrusions on the ends impede the rotation of the tool vz the seat post.

A guy buys two multi-tools ... and naturally, sees that now he needs to build two new bikes from which to hang saddle bags to hold the new multi-tools.

I really like the way you think.

I remember those! I think they stopped making them because they kept exploding when jostled. Hope your roads are smooth!

I don't remember them being black annodized. When I'd seem them before, it was as silver. I'd thought about buying one for a while (and still might), but I'm a fatty, so I don't mind the big, bulky, heavy ones I have now.
