Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Seems Shimano will be offering a 50/39 ring combo for the double (in addition to the 52/39)

The triple gets "upgraded" to a more sensible 52/39/30 spec also.

My only comment is that if Shimano is going to come out with a 50T double might as well make the small ring a 36T or 34T too.

50T with a 39T only gets you more overlap with a 10s cassette. (better off with a 13T cassette and a 53/39)

I thought the 50-39 is a juniors crankset (for junior racing with limitations)... doesn't dura ace have something like that?

A 50-39 seems pointless. You gain no low end and loose your top gear. and why not a 53 instead of a 52 for the other double? What the heck is wrong with a 52-42-30 triple?

Did I mention Campy rocks!

Nothing really wrong with the 42T ring, but the 39T ring is actually centered a lot better between the other two rings on gear % change basis (not a tooth count basis though)

Yeah, I don't know what's up with the idea to have a 50/39 either. Switching to a diff cassette is a better idea.

Seems like a good group though, sounds like they made improvemnets everywhere. Just wonder how much it be?
