The hunt for a post-2000 Klein

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The hunt for a post-2000 Klein

The first bike I probably fell in love with (through photos) was a 2002 Klein Quantum Race priced at $1250 on eBay. One look at the frame and the name "Klein" written across the tube was enough to swoon me. As if the price wasn't enough to crush my dreams, it was a size 54, and reading around told me that I had no chance of ever squeezing onto a 54 cm frame from Klein. To make matters worse, there exists exactly zero 52 cm or less post-2000 frames (particularly of the Quantum or Quantum Race models) from Klein in my area, or even being sold online around the states.

If you own one of these beauties please feel free to post photos below to give me sustenance until I finally track one down and attempt to buy it with what little college-student-money I have.

(Photo below is from eBay sale I mentioned)

Interesting. Most folks looking for a Klein of a certain era go for the pre Trek purchase era.

There was a point after early '90's when they moved away from pressed in bottom brackets and internal shift cable routing. That generation (I had a '95) could use a BSA bottom bracket, so an easy install, as well could use any STI shifting, which was not possible with the internal routing that had the downtube shifters mounted on the top of the down tube (not the side). My '89 could not use STI.

I have a great condition 2004 Klein Aura XV in 52 cm.
It is in my garage, less than an hour from Davis.
It could be had for a reasonable offer of college student money.
PM me if interested.

It looks beautiful! But I just recently bought another bike, a Giordana Capella. If I ever need (or want) a second bike I'll let you know and send an offer your way if the bike is still available.

I was recently looking for one as well but couldn't find one. Settled on a 2008 LeMond.

Lol, a guy posts exactly what you're looking for a day after your OP and you already bought another bike? Should have waited a few hours!

I've been looking for one for the longest time, just made the post recently. Just thought it'd be interesting to see what people have. I love the bike I bought, don't get me wrong, but there's a special place in my heart for Klein's.
