need to pee on long solo ride?
i've been riding solo and whenever i ride for a long amount of time i start feeling the need to pee, not only cuzza the fluid intake but the pressure on the groin area also. so since i'm riding solo and don't carry a lock around, i can't go into anywhere to pee cuz i'd have to leave my bike out unattended.
i've thought about just finding an empty place and goin in the bushes but have never done so yet. how many of you do that?

Yes! Go in the bushes!! Why on earth wouldn't you?
When I've got to go, I go in ditches, in long grass, in culverts, under bridges, behind buildings, in cornfields, in bushes, under trees, behind haystacks ... wherever.

Most of the time I sweat out the water I drink, but on a few longer rides in the middle of nowhere, I have done it.

I got the technique down. I don't even have to dismount the bike. I do stop riding, and pull just off the road. This is out in the country when no one is around, but it's a very smooth procedure.

I'm more concerned about when I need to take a dump on the road. It's rather hard to dig a hole in some guy's lawn, especially here in the city. And gas stations turn you away.

I have watered the bushes once or twice. Just be careful about things like bees and thorns.
I also carry a small retractable cable-lock from Kryptonite called the Gear Gripper. It's about the size of a Clifbar and I keep it in my saddle bag. It has a three-foot cable but it's not a heavy-duty lock by any means. However it is probably enough of a theft deterrant for a quick visit to the lavatory. Just be aware of your surroundings and use good judgement when locking up the bike.

I do it all the time! When I ride up the backside of Mt. Tam here there are very few cars and I just stop, lay down my bike, and walk a few steps to do it behind a tree or bush or even at the first convenient trailhead.

Haha, they should train to do some special extra-fast technique so they don't lose valuable time. If you can't ride fast, pee fast.

What they refer to is sometimes they just ride along and pee out the top or bottom of the shorts, usually with a teammate pushing. Helps to have a long stem.

Nature stops are a group decision in the peloton, so no one is really disadvantaged.
The early break may gain some extra time....but they don't get to lighten the load.

well, Machka is a female and she just said that she goes in the bushes or wherever convenient on a regular basis. Personally, I do the same. Find a tree, bush, etc and just whip it out and let it go. If I'm out riding in the middle of nowhere, that is. If I'm near civilization, I just find a gas station or store and go in.

You mean you guys just don't go in your shorts? I thought that's what the moisture-whicking chamois was for. I might have to change my "natural break" strategy. No more coasting for a minute or two with glazed over eyes before I start pedaling again.
