Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

That used to be my general yardstick if faced with a choice of which part to buy. I'm less concerned now, as I could lose 15 lb off my arse if I drank less beer, and it would cost me nothing.

If I lost 15 pounds, I'd be 20 pounds underweight.

Statistics say you're a lot more likely to gain it back than your wheels are.

I've been 6'2" and 153. It's not a good look. Since adding muscle mass, my speed has increased.

4 years ago I was hit by a truck, and spent 36 days in the hospital. I went from 173 pounds, down to 140.

When I got back on the bike, 13mph was hard to maintain for an hour on flatland.
