2004 Cannondale R1000 - $300. Worth buying?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

https://santabarbara.craigslist.org/bik/6253957783.html

Found this bike on Craigslist about an hour away. I believe it's my size, but I won't know for sure until I try it out.

Looks like the crankset has been switched out from the Shimano Triple. And they say upgraded components. Not really sure what to think of this bike.

Is it worth the asking price? I have my dad's old 91 Bianchi Virata that I've been riding a lot. I've never had a modern bike, so I thought this might be a good intro.

It appears they have based their price off of BBB guide as excellent condition. Most feel the guide undervalues.
It is a small frame.

Who are these 'most'?
I find it to often be wildly overvalued.

Your overall point certainly stands though- thats the problem with the site- its completely baseless due to not taking into account location, season, local inventory, etc.

300 dollars seems like a reasonable price for a bike of that era and quality, if it is in good condition.

Happens often with bikes that are good value. By the time you get useful opinions, the good ones are gone
