Canyon now officially selling in the US

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I see Canyon has listed the Campy record version of the Ultimate CF SLX now. $2000 more than the Dura ace version and IMO the Dura ace version has nicer wheels in the DT Swiss over the Shamals. I'm a die hard Campy fan, but that's a crazy amount of difference. I am going to have less $ in my Aeroad with Dura Ace and have enough left over to build up a Bombtrack cross/gravel frame as a second bike than what the Campy Ultimate would have cost me.

I know Shimano is giving big discounts to volume users so I'm sure that is why such a large difference, but Campy has to start seeing that for what it is and start giving volume discounts too or they will be priced out of business.

Seems odd. Prices are the same in the Australian store (AUD $6899 for both).

The Campy version is $5799, and the Dura Ace version is $4999. Only an $800 difference. Not sure where you see the $2000 spread.

They changed the price since yesterday. It was $6999 when I looked yesterday. That's more realistic but even so for $800 than dura ace, I would want super record to make me switch.

Spoke with canyon as well after getting my bike. Told me they are aiming for Q2 2018 to have an accessories shop up and running in the US so you can swap out parts. Told me I can call the service center though and pay for a longer stem that fitted me.

More of an existential question/comment: I love Canyon bikes and I have no idea why. So, why is this? I live in the US. I've never ridden one. I've probably never seen one in real life. However, every bit of exposure I've had to them has predisposed me to want one of the bikes. I dig the frame style. I dig the colors. I dig the fontography. I've seen them on GCN and other videos.

Pragmatically, I know that pretty much every major bike brand makes quality bikes at about the same price. Something about the way Canyon carries themselves in how they present their brand makes me more interested than, say, Trek, Specialized, Giant, or Cannondale. Am I just a sucker for marketing? Probably. As a big fan of Kraftwerk, I certainly love that they make the Kraftwerk bike.

Yeah, I appreciate that they're aesthetically clean - they don't suffer the logo overload that you see with a lot of manufacturers and they don't have swoopy paint jobs that try to hide and/or accentuate the lines of the frame. Of course, others will see this as being horribly boring, but to each their own.
