numb toes
I'm getting numb toes after riding for awhile and don't know what is causing it.
I had this problem with my old pedals, and now again with my spd pedals and shoes. I'm having a hell of a time getting the cleats in the right position, the left foot seems right but the right foot is still off I think. it seems that with the cleat in the right position they don't get as numb, at least the left foot didn't on the last ride and the right one did. what causes numb toes? |
Well the first thing that comes to my mind is your shoes are too tight. It could be a number of things ranging from improper cleat setup to nutrition. Check with your LBS to get the pedals and cleats set up.

Numb toes usually comes from pressure on the nerves in the foot coming from the cleats. Sometimes a very small left-right, or front-back adjustment will solve the problem. I have read that moving cleats backward is one of the "surer" ways to solve the problem.
Good luck getting the SPD cleats right. I never had much luck adjusting them, and eventually switched to Speedplays. But, I'm gonna be quiet about that topic now, since I've been rather outspoken against SPDs in a few posts recently. I don't want to look like crank. Cheers, Jamie |
The stock saddle which came with my bike gives me numb feet after about 10 miles. Switch out to a different style saddle.... no numb feet. Go figure......

Wow, Bikes-n-Drums, post just caused me to remember that my numb toes got considerably better after I lowered my saddle. I figured this out, because I realized that the numbness was worse when I was riding in the drops than when on the tops. So check your saddle position, too.

it also did this with my old toe clip pedals I'll probably have to get help at the shop with the pedals and cleats it's insane trying to get them just right then opps didn't tighten them I bled and it moved lol I have a good saddle on the bike will look into the many things that seem to cause the numb toes |
