Allez Sprint Comp (105) vs CAAD12 Ultegra

The only build option Specialized has for 2018 for the Allez Sprint is the Comp, which has full 105. I'd much prefer Ultegra 8000 but it actually has some decent wheels with DT Swiss R460s. And it's only $1800. I was thinking of maybe getting this and putting Dura Ace cranks on it right away and then upgrade to Ultegra 8000 for the rest of the components later on.

Or CAAD12 Ultegra. Already has Ultegra 8000 but I don't like the Mavic Aksium wheels. So they'd be upgraded off the bat.

I've ridden both. They have almost identical geometry and both are sweet. Bike is for racing and training.

Buy the Caad 12 and buy some Fulcrum racing 3 wheels

I'm getting the teal gloss comp next month. Well, I'm putting the money down to get one...they won't be delivered until January or February.

I don't think you can go wrong with either choice.

Well the Allez frames are hard to get and my local dealer said they can't get any/no ETA but to call this shop a couple hours away because they are big dealers of them.

They supposedly have a chameleon purple and a graffiti version coming this month in my size. I was trying to find the graffiti graphic and I think that it's so new there aren't even any pics of it. There's a small pic on the Specialized site but when you click in to the link that colorway disappears. Odd, but it looks like it might be sweet.

So anyway, might try to reserve that for me and then have it built up with Ultegra 8000.

I like the colors but not the graphics on that. Chameleon is better imo.

I like the Caads but they do have a couple things to consider, seatpost size, and bb30a.

True but Allez Sprint is no walk in the park with crappy single bolt saddle clamp on proprietary aero post you can't change and BB30 isn't much better.

Both great bikes but with their particular ax to grind which will bother some and not all.

The new for '18 lower level Allez...brand new design has a threaded BB, endurance geometry and 27.2 post and can run whatever post you like. That would be the Allez I would choose in fact for all of those reasons and put the wheels and groupset of my choosing on the bike and ebay the stock components.

Allez Sprint is such a fun bike to ride, un-real efficiency, CAAD12 awesome too especially the ones with those spider cranks

I think that Sprint seatpost is great, so simple, no issues
