Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Anyone else like the new Oakley

I think there is a stigma before things get into the peloton, but a bunch of teams are going to be sporting these soon. I think I’m a fan. That said, I hope the production model has a smaller logo.

It's pretty rad. I want to try one on. I still think the Specialized Evade might be the coolest helmet imo but this Oakley has potential.

That aero helmet with the built in lenses looks sick though. I might get one and just roll around with it daily lol.

Yea. I want to try them on too. The evade has been my favorite for a while now. This is a great option for people who don’t ride specialized though. I also like that the surfacing is a little more simple. Not quite as many vents.

I had the option for built in lenses with my air attack and decided it was overkill for local rides. I love the idea of built in lenses though.

I don't ride Specialized and I wear their helmets. And I don't care. They make great helmets and shoes. I'm not sponsored by anyone so I don't care if stuff matches. In fact, the guys around town in team kits with team color bikes and stuff tend to be the bigger dbags since all roadies (myself included) are dbags. They are like the king dbags.

I'm gonna guess a strictly-enforced MAP of at least $300 for the Aro 5. The sky is the limit on the TT lid.

The should call it the "Tron". I'll get one if and when they show up in Japan, I'm still sporting a Briko Twinner from the Cipollini era.

Yea. Can agree with kit guys. I just stay away from bike manufacture gear if I don’t own the bike. Doesn’t matter at the end of the day though.

Afraid of this happening… especially when they find out everyone digs them haha

Dude, that Briko is pretty sweet. That helmet was way ahead of its time. Nice.

Looks cool, but no way I'll be able to afford it. I think the MET Rivale looks somewhat similar and I didn't even spring for that.

the Aro 3 will retail for $180, Aro5 will retail at $250, and the Aro7(the TT helmet) will retail for $500 with both a Road Prizm tinted lens, and a clear one. this is the Aro3

The other manufacturers dropped the ball. We have to get a helmet made by a sunglasses company to remember that sunglasses stowage ports really are important to have!

Oof, that Aro3 is... not attractive. The Aro5 still looks pretty good, maybe they'll be cheaper by the time I wear out my Overtake.

I’ll have to see the Oakleys and the Vanquish on my head...also it won’t matter if the helmets don’t conform to my head shape. Luckily Giro and Bell fit me well, and Lazer too.

POC has had their "Eyewear Garage," for a bit.

The ones in the OP look cool, the Aro3 not so much. And the Aro7... can't really comment much as I don't do TT stuff.

But I wonder if they will come with an optional/removable insect net...

Also, since Oakley has the whole "Asian fit" concept with their glasses, I wonder if they will also have a similar sizing scheme for the helmets.

Sure, but they are primarily a helmet company, first addressing skiing and then working in to other segments; I wouldn't characterize them as a "sunglasses company," which is what I was responding to.

So using that logic, Oakley is a BMX grip company.
