The crabon hardtail is matte. Wonder what wax does to matte.

It doesn't hurt the NP one bit. The November is a matte clear coat, and it does fine there too. Cleaner wax has a little abrasive in it, so it may be wise to stay away from that.

As I write about cleaner wax, it occurs to me there are numerous pics of your pals place with high dollar shiny cars, so I must also assume you know that.

Carry on :)

He's all about putting plastic film on shiny cars, so dunno about that :)

I use very mild wax, so no worries about any polishing action. I've actually never waxed matte or even thought about waxing matte.

I guess the biggest PITA about waxing the crabon hardtail is the fact that the "decals" appear to be cut vinyl, so will likely start peeling up after a couple of wax jobs.

Speaking of race teams, I was involuntarily added to the roster of one this year after turning it down last year (a bit of a story there).

It's a bit meaningless to me, since you don't need a team to race TTs and the team in question is too fast for me to ride with regularly. I decided not to protest this year & then I found out you get two free kits, a pair of Bont shoes and 40% off Kask helmets. Sweet.

I've since gotten my work to be one of the team sponsors so at least I'm earning my keep.

Pretty nice perks. I really like the looks of those helmets, never tried one on, though.

Ramona, good job on the volunteering and congratulations on doing something rare: you exposed me to a new word!

Pretty sure it'll be instantly gloss. Look what happens when a bottle of Belvy gets wet - the water fills in the gaps in the surface that make it look frosted, so it suddenly looks like regular glass in the wet spot. It goes back to normal when it dries off, but wax wouldn't disappear like that, of course.

:bday:

Well maybe there is something to this team thing after all. I'll see if any of the shops needs a fat guy. ;)

Got up early today and slapped the Magicshine on the Habanero for a quick short ride before the rain. I timed it right, sprinkles started about 2 miles from return home.

Time to hunker down, they say this one will hit the NE pretty hard.

One of our friends lived in NC back in the 1980's and had a job working as a telephone customer service rep for Performance. She is not a cyclist but knows the lingo from her time there. If PB has been around for 35 years, I believe her time was in the fairly early years.

Anyone seen the new Blade Runner film? We are thinking of seeing it today.

+1. That's what happened when I sanded a decal off of a seatpost - glossy enough that you'd really have to closely inspect to see where the decal once was.

No, but have heard mostly positive things. I need to get out for a solo movie sometime soon - this may be a good candidate.

I once tried to wash a bike at the insistence of another subforum here. Not my cup of tea, even with a stand. Just not a fastidious sort. More of a maculate sort. I wipe them down when working on the bb, because then the cranks are out of the way. Fast and efficient isn't my thing, nor is concern for what others might think of my bike. Heck, I don't even bother to align the valve with the tire label. The horror!

Edit: I have my dad to thank for that. His work cars were always black, as well as some of the family cars. I honestly never witnessed him waxing one of them, though he did wash them.

BillyD 10-29-17 06:45 AM

The end is . . . fairly near. :innocent:

seedsbelize 10-29-17 06:45 AM

Do we have a closeout game tonight?
