Has anyone received a kudos from some stranger in a third world country that does not follow you? strange, I get them all the time.

I do that, except I refuse to give kudos to runs. A man's gotta have standards. :lol:

Yeah sometimes... if you look you see they follow thousands of people and have usually joined every open Strava club possible. Annoying because they screw up the leaderboards of my local clubs but also I kind of don't care.

Yeah, I get them all the time too. It started happening immediately after I joined the GCN club in Strava, which currently has over 60k members from around the world. I think it's from people who see my ride show up when they view the club activity feed. I typically click on the user's name and check out their profile. They often have photos and such from their own rides, and it's kind of fun to see what the area they live in looks like, especially when it's a mountain biker on some trail or whatever.

I imagined those guys are in some kind of personal quest to have the most followers, so they follow you or kudo you and hope you follow them back. I like to limit my feed to people I actually ride with.

BTW, is it normal in England to pronounce it "cue doss?" Or is it just one English person I hear doing it wrong?

It is fun to look back.

Most kudo'd activity was a ride where I posted a screen shot of the temperature in Oymyakon, Russia, the coldest city on the planet. It was -45°f and people must have thought it was the real temp because I got way more kudo's than usual. LoL.

I was able to see yours. That low temp is crazzzy. :-) My coldest ride so far was last night, riding at down to 34 F. So you were over 70 degrees colder, LOL. I looked at mine but I'm hoping it regenerates, because the year isn't over with, and with the Festive 500 starting tomorrow night after midnight, I'll be adding at least 312 miles hopefully before the end of the year (hoping to complete the challenge before the last day).

That is neat. Mine has different stuff, which is also neat. The fact that my most kudo'ed activity is a 25 mile virtual ride in Zwift gives you a pretty good insight into the value of kudos.

I've pretty much stopped kudoing Zwift rides. I mean, it's a cool system to enable people to get cycling mileage in when they can't get out and ride for real, but it's not the same in my book as an actual ride. At least it's not as annoying in my activity dashboard as those damn Peleton rides. There's this one guy who will do them quite often and half a screen in my feed is taken up by a photo of some virtual trainer mugging for the camera.

The stat I really want to see is where you rank in all of Alex's Kudos. I mean is 130 about average, or indicative of love?

The eye-opener on mine was the difference between average and longest ride: less than eight, and over 140 miles. Average is so low because twice a day on most weekdays since late February or so I've taken Citibike on the 1 mile ride between Port Authority and the office. But with a few trips to meetings thrown in for good measure, Citibike has accounted for over 800 of nearly 5k miles.

Most kudoed was a ride to Bear Mt. on a day I think a lot of folks happened to be paying attention to Strava, and ride with most others was up Stelvio ahead of that stage of the Giro: indicated only 46 of what was surely hundreds.

Mine has the same peculiarity-- I only did two rides with groups all year, and Strava gave me something like 9 for one ride and 18 or so for the other. Thing is, on the first one I rode the whole day with a group of about 25 (out of around 200 riding that distance) and in a pack of over 40 in the second ride-- and the 50 mile route that day had ELEVEN HUNDRED entrants.

I have also gotten a "rode with" with a complete stranger on a normal solo day, where we covered the same roads about 60% of the time, but never saw each other.

If you are "close" to another rider for 30% of your ride time then your ride is counted as a group ride with the other rider.

I don't know the distance threshold for "close" but recall reading somewhere that it was 50 meters. I could be mistaken.

I think Alex is a blanket kudo'er, but I think they're also genuine-- he's the most gregarious cyclist I've ever met. It's rare to see him post a ride where he rolled solo... so the force of balance to say, me. Not counting my wife, of my ~600 hours of riding this year, less than 30 of those have been with other people.

LOL. I ranks you by how many kudos you receive! That's too funny. I suppose if someone saw that they could very well be out fishing for kudos. Who knows? Personally, I'm currently in 275937th place. I guess I have some work to do, eh?

Strava Projects is neato. I've learned that I'm a Lone Wolf (my wife is the only person I've ridden with more than 4 times) that lives in a massive kudo deficit (1,065 received, only 145 given) and my favorite worthless tidbit of the day: I've received the most kudos, by a wide margin, during the 11 o'clock hour on Thursdays. I do love me some worthless info.

Oh, and everybody should be ahead of me-- kudos-wise, I'm in 740,627th place. :lol:

I'm a lone wolf to the extent that most of my rides are solo, but I'd ride with others more of the time if it were practical. My weekday rides are unpredictable times, though, so they end up about 99% solo. If I can get to a group ride over the weekend I'll usually do it, or if there's some guy locally that I can ride with and we arrange it, I'll do that.

I actually met a guy on Thanksgiving morning when I was out riding when I slowly passed him on this one road, then I slowed down and asked him where he was going. He was heading up to ride in some hills that I was also heading to, so I asked if he'd mind if we rode together. He didn't, so we ended up riding around 20 or 25 miles together. That's a little out there in the "I like to ride with other people" extreme, and some folks might have been wierded out by it, but it worked out. Literally everyone I've ridden with here in AZ except one brother-in-law I either met through Strava, or met in a group ride I found out about from someone I'd met on Strava.

I once rode with a guy who lives out in California. I can't remember how we first spoke, but it was undoubtedly some kudo action seen because of some club membership or something like that. Turns out he was coming out to AZ for some business thing and brought a bike, and we arranged to meet up and go for a ride. So that guy is now one of like six people who've now ridden my "private" 32.5-mile Strava segment that is one of my go-to rides. It's not really private, but it starts and ends in front of my house, so it's private in the sense that it's likely nobody would ever show up in that segment by accident.

I've managed to wile away the last couple of hours on the forum while waiting for midnight to strike. I'm doing my customary Festive 500 Midnight Kickoff ride for the third year, starting in around 20 minutes. I'll do 30 miles minimum, maybe 40 or 50, depending on how I feel. Then I'll come home and sleep, and sometime later in the morning I'll go on a normal daytime ride, and it will all count for some huge miles toward completing the Festive 500 challenge, but I'll have snuck in an extra night's sleep in between those two sets of miles, giving me a slight recovery advantage. Time to go suit up, since it's going to be around 40 F out there.

Everyone is way ahead of me on kudos. They didn't even tell me because it's only two or three. I just got Strava at the beginning of June, so not all my miles are there for the year. My average distance definitely corresponds to my daily one way ride.

For me, most kudoed rides are events and big group rides. Most kudoed solo ride came in at #12. Ride with most others didn't show up in the top 50, because none of them were regular riding mates. And since it was a Monday I think a lot of folks who normally give me kudos weren't paying attention, so it got buried in their feed.
I've given 20% more kudos than I've received; however, there are guys who kudo me that I don't know or follow, but none the other way around.
With very few exceptions, I only kudo actual road rides (no Zwift) and keep roller rides private.
