Trigger has been pulled, Speedvagen ordered!

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The army green? Too late! Although I loved it, I ultimately decided that the Horizon scheme with the two slates and citron colors would age better over the long term.

Thank you! For me as well, 4-5 years in the making. Busting at the seams. Not having a bike in the interim seems worse hit that’s what I get for being a one bike guy.

This has been in the works for a long time, and while I plan to fly to Portland for a proper fitting I'll be purchasing the frame only and porting most of my current parts to the new bike. Exception (other than headset and BB), will be the handlebar and stem, I'm thinking of getting the integrated Ritchey or Pro painted to match, along with DI2 integration, and carbon seatpost head. I'm not completely sure of paint yet (Overt is out), but crossed between the Horizon paint scheme (Slate/Citron), or the Holla Text Army.

Long way to go since I just placed the deposit today, but incredibly excited to build my dream bike!
Yeah, the Overt is just wacky. I kinda like the Ghost paint best, with the Horizon a close second.

I hear you. The Ghost paint job, was kinda cool when I saw it in the flesh. I liked the simplicity but wanted the bike to be more "Speedvagen-ish" which is why I went with the Horizon. During the shop tour though, I was surprised at how many bikes they were working on that seemed to have a custom mix of ghost and other paint jobs. I'm just not creative enough to come up with something on my own.

Update time!

Looks like the frame and such will be here sometime by Feb 8th, so I should have the time to build it up for an upcoming organized ride on the 10th. Paint is curing (pics below), then finishing work and install the headset prior to shipping my way. Yeeha!

Yup Enve 2.0 is standard with them. With my geometry and weight I was offered the option of the lighter 1.0 but my budget had been spent.

That makes two of us!

I haven’t yet but would like to. Do you ride with a group at all that I can look up?

Tuesday Night Worlds and Raincross are the two big ones. A lot of people come over from other cities to ride those.

Thanks! I’ll look them up. Always looking for alternate rides especially during summer heat.

Which organized ride are you doing on Feb 10th? TDPS? Pretty distinctive paint job, maybe I'll see you cruising by.

(on a newly built up bike? Bold. )

We're getting close! Received my extra wheels yesterday. First foray into direct to customer Chinese
wheels. Yoeleo seem to have a good reputation. The wheels were packed beautifully and were smooth and true, I don't have a tension guage but seem nicely built as well. I'll be running these tubeless as I do with my November built Easton SL90's. Got some Schwalbe Pro One's for $43 ea on the way. Just need to get some tubeless valves. Other than that I think I now have everything to build up the bike including new seat bag. Was hoping to get the frame this week but guess it will be next as the paint was still curing and then final detail work. Edit, just found out that frame is being prepped for shipping today!

Funny that you ask!

Frame came in this afternoon, I got started right away but with the wife away I'm doing the single dad thing for the week which cut a few hours out. Was hoping to get done this evening but I'm beat. Will try to finish tomorrow after I drop him off to school. Would really like to get a short maiden voyage in tomorrow but have lunch plans. Maybe late afternoon or something.

The bike looks awesome overall. Need to figure the best way to put the junction box on. Right now I have it facing backwards off the K-edge computer mount (can't do the bar end junction with these bars), the mount is also set up to hold the Garmin and my headlight below so I'm happy to not have anything strapped to the bars. All that's left are grommets for the etube wires coming out of the frame, derailleur adjustments, Garmin pedals, and handlebar tape. I'm really looking forward to seeing it in the daylight. The Slate blue is really nice but part of me is wondering if I should have gone for a brighter blue. I think though that I have enough vibrancy with the lemon yellow.

These pics are with my alloy wheels, I'm waiting for longer valve stems before setting up the carbon wheels since those will be tubeless as well. Super stoked!

Velcro straps holding everything together

Painted Parts

Nice note!
