Bent Dropbars

Hi guys, im new in cycling world :). I parked my bike on the wall and suddenly someone hit my bike and my dropbars is bent abit. Should i changing it or just straighten it back? It was an aluminum handlebars. Thank you!.

Did your bike get squeezed between a car and the wall?
Bars are quite sturdy, and don’t bend easily.
Are you sure it’s not only twisted?
If it really is bent, I wouldn’t straighten it.
Aluminium doesn’t like being bent repeatedly.
And a bar breaking while riding is a nasty accident.

Are you sure they didn't just rotate down in the stem clamp?

Or was it just the shift lever that got turned?

If the bars are bent - replace them.
They have exceeded their elastic limit and weaker.

Some super cheap bars - does not matter. Most bars, alloy/anodized it does.

Either is fine. If you can bend it, bend it. Though with alloy and even with some steels, you might get some weakening or fatiguing of the metal at the bend that might either show immediately or in the distant future. Will it be a sudden break that causes you or others injury? Who knows.

But new bars can be as cheap or expensive as you want them. You doing it yourself? Some can wrap bars intuitively and do it nice the first time. Some never can wrap them pretty.

But also as other's pointed out be sure it's not that a lever got pushed or the bars rotated in the stem.
