Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I don't have a trainer so it's only road miles for me, I met my goal despite being sick these last few weeks of 2017, I met my goal and I'm proud of that, I got in just a few ticks over 5,000. I'm going with the same goal for next year as it doesn't interfere with my family time and is achievable. I would like to do more structured training during the week next year but fun is my #1 priority. I don't race but love to do century rides and compete against my riding buddies.

Need 35 miles to finish the Rapha Festive, and my plan is to do that, and no more. So the end of year will be pretty much:

10,100 miles
613 hours
397,000ft^

Between injury and breakdowns, I missed a full 9 weeks of riding in 2017-- so I'm fine with both the distance and elevation.

Not a good year for me. Just hit 5000 miles today, about 3000 under last year when I stopped in early Dec. due to major snow.

Beautiful ride today though on the old Orbea.

I'm at 2374 right now, but I still have 86 miles left to finish the Festive 500, and I'll finish it either all tomorrow, or a lot tomorrow and the rest on Sunday, so I'll be over 2460 if I stop as soon as the challenge is complete, or probably a few miles more for good measure. Given my first ride of 2017 wasn't till August 21st, I feel pretty good about that.

Yeah you jumped up to the top of my list of Festive folks. I'm hoping to finish tomorrow (well, now it's later today), but I need 86 miles. I think it'll happen today.

That's a lot of miles you did this year!

6001.2 miles/9658 km
248,366 feet/75,702 m elevation

All outdoor miles

My significant other is mumbling things about "too cold for humans" and "life insurance policy", so that might be a wrap for 2017!

7185 for 2017, I could get to 7200 if I can get out tomorrow - it snowed today.

EDIT: Got out today - 15.4 miles takes me over 7200 for the year. Love riding in single digit temps.

2851 for me. Not enough consistent miles to be in the shape I'd like, but 2018 is another year.

1400 miles, April to late October. I’m not much of a cold weather rider. This fall and a bit of winter have been rainy and snowy. But not bad for a 60 year old recreational rider with a 7 year old son.

I will put a short ride in tomorrow so I can break 9000km; currently sitting at 8961 km with 78,988 m vertical. About 2500 km are trainer miles... this winter has been brutal for weather...

I managed 5706 after taking out the Zwift miles even though I find them harder than most road miles. Not having a job helps a lot.....nothing to interfere with riding
