Correct rim tape width for H+1 Archetype?
I've invested on a pair of H Plus Son Archetype wheels and have question for the tape to use.
I believe the standard tape width is 16 mm. Since the rim is 17.5 mm, is 16 mm tape a bit narrow for it? Is there any problem since - just going logically - there will be valleys on both side of the rim 0.75 mm wide if tape is centered on the rim? Thank you, Paulo |
Are you talking about the old fashioned cloth tape with adhesive? Then IMO, the tape only needs to be wide enough to cover the spoke holes by a single mm on both sides. So 16 mm tape is way too wide, but might work with the shape of that rims cross-section. For the newer things they call tape.... I don't know

How about Velo Plugs instead of the tape? VELOPLUG.COM |

Thank you, Paulo Consider treating yourself to some tubeless rim tape. Being much thinner than Velox, it would make mounting tires a little easier. :thumb: |
