Computer question.

Hi guys. So I got a Cateye computer with the bike I recently purchased as part of a preferred cyclists package. It is a $59.99 computer. The bike shop is a Lezyne dealer and the owner said he would allow me to exchange the computer for a Lezyne and pay the difference. So I could get a Lezyne Super GPS for $90. I was eventually going to get a wahoo element bolt as I like the look and design but now I'm wondering if it is really worth spending the extra $ for an element bolt or if the Lezyne for $90 is the better value?

I have the Super GPS and really love it. It is far more reliable then the Garmins people I ride with have. I've never had the unit restart in the middle of a ride, drop the signal, etc. It auto syncs with strava at the end of your ride. It provides a huge amount of data. I'd spend the money and upgrade from the Cateye.

Never used the Lezyne, but switched from Garmin to Wahoo, and the phone app alone makes it worth it. As also, the preloaded world maps, especially if you travel a lot.

I use the Super GPS, and for 90$, I'd say that's a good deal. Though to get navigation you'll have to load directions from the phone app. Battery life on it is definitely great.

Seems like the Lezyne is the way to go. I could spend another $80 and get the bundle that comes with lezynes hrm and speed/cadence combo sensor but not sure if that is worth it. I eventually want a cadence sensor. I also want an hrm but I feel I can get a magnetless cadence sensor that is ant+ and Bluetooth and an hrm for similar money from a different manufacture that may work better?

A chest strap HRM costs $40 to $100. I'd probably get the bundle.

I don't think the speed or cadence sensor is terribly important but opinions vary on that. The "magnetless" ones are easier to set up but unless you put your bike inside a car pretty often, once you get the older ones where they need to be, they tend to stay put. Aesthetics is probably a toss up.

I have a Lezyne super gps and was considering an upgrade to the Wahoo Element Bolt specifically because you could load training peaks or today's plan onto it and it has the capability of controlling an ERG trainer to the plan. Also, it has an awesome feature of visually showing the upcoming grade on the chosen route, an awesome feature for pacing.

Just some thoughts, frankly though, Lezyne just released an awesome firmware update that makes it even better and I don't personally own the wahoo computers.

I went with the Lezyne Super GPS. This trip to the shop was more expensive than I thought it would have been. While I was there I found out that my pump I have (cannondale airport nitro floor pump) has a bad guage and is off by 20 psi so my tires were over inflated and one was separating. So I ended up putting 32c tires on my CAAD Optimo while I was there and it made a big difference in the ride. A lot smoother and will give me the ability to ride on hard pack dirt a bit better now too. I ended up with a set of Continental Contact Plus'.
