Sidi sizing advice please...
I am a size 12 US. I have been riding a pair of SIDI Genius 6.6 Carbon Lite Shoes (2011). Size 46. Great fit. Plenty of room in the toe box.
Decided to replace them. I ordered some new Sidi Shots size 46 as well. Incredibly tight out of the box. Would their shoesizing change over the course of 7 years? I am reordering a pair of 46.5's. Should that be the soultion or have their shoes gotten narrower? Thanks in advance. |
Two questions. (I know nothing about Sidi shoes other than that they are a poor fit form my feet, as are most shoes.) Did Sidi manufacture go to Asia since your previous pair? Have your feet splayed out as is common as we age. Mine have. I can still wear my old, well used shoes but I cannot imagine trying to put on NOS versions of those shoes. Most of my shoes are now a full European size larger than what I used to wear.
I ask that first question because I had a pair of Italian made Vasque hiking boots that were comfortable the moment I put them on. Like really, really comfortable. Bought them '89 and hiked hard for three days that weekend. Loved them. They disappeared when my marriage ended. Went to REI to try on the exact same shoe. Didn't matter the size; I could not make them work. Employee told me manufacture had gone to Asia and that the lasts had changed. Things do change. I now have a pair of Vasques I bought last year, different model, that aren't as good as the first pair but not far off. Ben |
I had the same experience.
Size 43 Genius Mega fit perfect. A new pair of Dominator Mega, which are the exact same last, fit slightly tight. In spite of what Sidi claims their materials do stretch and the shoes now fit perfectly after 3 or 4 uses, helped by storing them with old fashioned shoe trees. I'm not sure what your solution is and guess it depends on how uncomfortable they are initially. If they are intolerable then surely send them back. -Tim- |
I've worn Sidi exclusively for the last 25 years. They run narrow, as to my feet. I used to wear 42.5, until about 10 years ago when I went to 43. I haven't noticed any very recent changes in sizing. However, most Sidi used to be made from Lorica, which clearly stretched. Now, they're using that shiny rubberized material which doesn't stretch as well.

Thanks all. All good thoughts. My last pair were a little tight but stretched, but i think the 46 is too tight to start with. either they are making them a little smaller or my feet have gotten fatter. Will try for the 46.5's.
