This is the fourth consecutive year that March will be cooler than February here. Last year the coldest night of the winter was in mid March.

Bluebird day today.

bikecrate 03-06-18 10:16 AM

February was one of the hottest on record here in FL. The trees started pollinating and the flowers blooming. Now it is cooler again. It won't be spring cycling until the young squirrels start running under my wheels. Darwin sorts them out later.

Second Nor'Easter in a week starts tonight. Some people are still without power from the first one that hit last Friday. More heavy, wet snow is forecast for this one starting around noon tomorrow. Last night I charged all my batteries for the headlamp and will make sure my Kindle and phone are fully charged tonight. Got two good sleeping bags to keep me warm if the power goes out. Cook with gas so that won't be a problem, but I would lose hot water.

you can boil that. that's what I did when we lost our hot water heater due to a flooded basement (but I needed to clean up the mess). boil mop dump, boil mop dump, boil mop dump, etc ... :crash:

noisebeam 03-06-18 10:34 AM

Rattlesnake spotted at trail head 2wks ago. Sure sign of spring.

Beth asked me if it's too early to go backpacking. :)

Would make for a painful shower.

What do you say? Can we come out to Philly and join you for an adventure?

 oh, er, good point, shudda said "heat on stove"

Seattle Forrest 03-06-18 01:48 PM

It's gorgeous and I need to get out of work and enjoy a long ride.

gettingold 03-06-18 03:00 PM

You clearly aren't in Syracuse....

firebird854 03-06-18 03:00 PM

It is literally a blizzard outside right now, 4 in of snow and counting with 20 mph winds (gusting up to 40mph) in Milwaukee Wisconsin. I'm so jealous, at least I have Zwift.

alarsen77 03-06-18 03:18 PM

I'm patiently waiting for spring to arrive. I am also in the Northeast area where we are getting our second noreaster tonight. Luckily we didn't lose power from the first one but we will see what this one from tonight brings.

RPK79 03-06-18 03:22 PM

Spring? Is that what all that white stuff is called?

floridamtb 03-06-18 03:52 PM

No it's not... going to be 51 in Miami Thursday, that's NOT spring

Seattle Forrest 03-06-18 04:01 PM

It's probably 51 here, I'm wearing a t shirt. There's a giant yellow thing in the sky, blinding to look at.

It should reach 80 NW of Phoenix today, but I don't call it Spring until the smell of citrus blossoms fills the air.

noisebeam 03-07-18 10:57 AM

Rode to work this morning at 7am in shorts and short sleeves. The flowery smells of spring are in the air, just not citrus yet.

Rode to the office this morning from Port Authority and stayed dry essentially, but it was coming down as we left early. Managed to escape the city just as the roads here in Jersey are getting blanketed.

Seattle Forrest 03-07-18 12:10 PM

Beth's low-IQ cat caught a bird yesterday.

droppedandlost 03-08-18 05:06 PM

I got serenaded by frogs on Tuesday

I could smell the Citrus blossoms today.

With our 3rd NorEaster (12"-16") in the last 10 days predicted for this week not looking to get out for any serious riding anytime soon. (Mass.)

timing is everything. even now scratching my head trying to figure out what windows might present an opportunity. maybe only jumping out of one into a snowbank ...

Seattle Forrest 03-12-18 09:40 AM

I contused my rib last week and couldn't ski this weekend. Very sad. Rode yesterday but it's not the same.

It's gonna be 70 F today.
